Sorry to hear that. Hoping that he can continue to lead a reasonably comfortable life, until a clear diagnostic test from the vet, provides more clarity.

It wasn't as bad as we thought. Apparently the vet my mom goes to made it sound like he was dying . But he got medicine and Xrays. The vet hospital said he got Anaplasmosis tick disease. I think that's what it was.

Yep, no full service in our “hood” either…!!! ;)
The last time I even remember going to a full service gas station was in my childhood, of course, but, I’ve been pumping my own gas since I got my learners permit in ‘77.
Since most “motorists” apparently dressed like the below image back in the day, it’s no wonder they wanted nothing to do with any of the nasty automobile happenings outside of the passenger compartment…!!!!! :hilarious:

Um, I don’t think that Car would pass any safety standards. Where is the right side if the car?

I'm glad it can be cured/controlled by medication but hate docs that scare people needlessly
It took me several vets when I had Belle to find one who I liked. They wouldn't listen to me. I'm like, I know this cat. Please listen to me. I have two that I rotate between at the practice; I won't take them to any other vets there unless it's an emergency.

The only thing I wasn't thrilled with when I last took Ella in was that the vet brought up Ella's weight. Not Jasmine, ELLA. Ella, who was UNDERWEIGHT when I got her and is now a grand total of eight pounds and who runs around the house like a total nut. Before she weighed her she started talking about her weight, and I was like "Are you seriously worried about this cat's weight?" All because I mentioned I free feed her. She refuses to eat completely at the same time as Jasmine, and I spent enough years battling over food with Belle. And also, I don't feed her wet food unless she asks for it because she prefers dry food. I'm like, she's eating, she's happy, she's healthy, and I otherwise don't care, especially since my other one is absolutely obese and we need to work on her weight (which I'm starting to wonder if she's got an underlying medical issue causing her weight, but separate issue there). So finally, the vet examined her and was like "Oh yeah, she is a good weight." And I'm like, yes, I do know how to monitor a cat's weight since I spent years and years trying to keep the weight on Belle. But I do otherwise like this vet; just might have to prove that I really do understand all of my cats, not just Belle.

Omg 8 lbs is a good ideal weight for her. That is ridiculous.

The frittata pan is multipurpose. Reminds me of the time James needed a physical for something last minute at school so it was just quicker to let the school do it as our doc was on vacation. Doc: I think he should be eating more as he's a bit thin and maybe run some tests. I just said send that to our doc, who laughed next time we were in. James has always been thin but NOT underweight and we just got back from Florida where we were walking 10+ miles every day or swimming for hours, plus he grew enough while we were away to gain an entire foot size

Yup, and she stops eating when she's full! I usually give her half of a 3.5 oz can of food when she asks for it, and she never eats the entire thing. Both Belle and Jasmine always ate the entire thing. This cat has a very good sense of how much she needs to eat. Jasmine definitely had some bad eating habits when I got her. Ella did not. Ella also doesn't even like the treats that I have, so we don't give them to her. She occasionally gets a small piece of lunch meat as a treat (especially if we need to determine if it's going bad, lol). I check her periodically, and as long as I can see her waist is clearly defined, I don't worry about her.

The problem with doing set mealtimes with her is that she doesn't want to eat at set times. She nibbles throughout the day. If I put down food for both her and Jasmine, Jasmine will eat all of it and Ella won't get enough. Then Jasmine will get fatter and Ella will be underweight. The system I have seems to work. The only other solution would be microchip feeders, and those are expensive and I don't see the need when what I do works.

This same vet one time when I brought Belle in mentioned that she had gone up to 11 pounds instead of 10. I was like, do you understand how hard it is to get this cat to eat? If she goes up to 12, we'll start talking, but I'm not worried about 11. She'd taken off that pound by her next visit. Belle was also a very active cat.

The reason I go to this vet is that Belle had something called pododermatitis. This vet found it after two other vets missed it. I even had brought up that her paws were cracked at a prior vet visit and got ignored. This vet was also the only one who would listen to me when I said "Absolutely do not give this cat oral doxycycline." I didn't let them give that to Jasmine when she had an ear infection last year; I insisted on an injectable antibiotic. Too rough on their tummies. So she understood Belle's sensitive tummy very well. But the weight thing drives me crazy.

@93boomer I believe you asked for a review of the robo vacuum.

So far he's working out (yes, it's a he, I named him Wall-E, lol). I've been running him twice a week down here in an effort to keep the amount of bugs down. I also got these bug repeller plug in things off Amazon that, quite frankly, I did not expect to work, and they made the ants in the kitchen disappear in two days and we haven't seen them since. They also apparently work on mice, and other than that one Ella brought me, I haven't seen any down here. Anyway, since I got the repellers and started running the vacuum down here twice a week, I've seen a grand total of one bug down here. I was seeing at least one per day. It was a spider, and it was dead, so it was probably curtesy of Miss Ella. It was in an area that I didn't have a repeller in, so I plugged one in since I still had one.

Anyway, in addition to no longer seeing the bugs, I also no longer see the clumps of Ella hair. Vacuum seems to get that. I also have been giving the cats catnip pretty much every day, and it picks that up.

I was going to run the vacuum overnight. I decided not to do that because 1. You have to turn the lights on in order for the vacuum to see what he's doing and 2. In case he gets stuck on something, I'd rather be around and help him. Once I see that he's pretty reliably not getting stuck, I'd probably be okay running him on vacation since I can remotely turn on lights, just would warn anyone taking care of the house. 😂

There are spots he tends to miss, specifically corners and under my desk. In the grand scheme of things, not a huge deal as I can hit those with a regular vacuum when I do the stairs. I'm overall spending less time vacuuming, which is a good thing.

This basement is about 1500 square feet. He takes about an hour to do part of it, goes and recharges, and then comes back and does the rest in about 30 more minutes. That's on normal mode. He also has an eco mode and a turbo mode. I don't plan on using the eco mode because I want it clean down here, and I haven't used the turbo mode because I don't want it too noisy when I'm trying to work. If he's in another room, I can't hear him, and it doesn't bother me for the few minutes he's in my office.

Overall, pretty happy with my purchase, and I glad I bought the Shark one instead of an off brand version. He returns to his dock pretty easily when he needs emptying, after the first run doesn't spend a ton of time running into stuff, and finds the rooms on his own without me helping. My aunt's off brand ones do not, which to me kind of defeats the purpose of having a robo vacuum.

The only thing is if you have multiple floors, you pretty much have to keep one per floor. You can't move them around between floors. They're supposed to learn the layout of the rooms. That's fine for the basement because it's really the only place layout wise in this house where it makes sense to have a robotic vacuum

Soo cool! I wondered about corners.
Yayy for no bugs!

Yes, I wagered my own personal war against the bugs. 😂 It was like a Klingon vs. tribbles @Figgy1 🤣. They were absolutely creeping me out. I did not expect those plug in things to work. You plug them in and they emit a high frequency noise that humans and pets can't hear but apparently bugs and rodents can hear. I fully expected something to go wrong. I expected they didn't work, I'd hear them, the cats would hear them...none of the above. They don't bother any of us and the bugs have all left. What was amazing was how many ants we had in the kitchen, and they just disappeared two days after I plugged that thing in. I put out a trap and haven't found any ants in it. They all got out.
