If you have a tried and true recipe for something, stick with it.

I messed up, and decided on a new recipe for gingerbread cookies. The dough consistency was off. Still, refrigerated it overnight and rolled out this morning. Tried cutouts, but they fell apart 🤦‍♀️ . . . so, I just did circular shapes.

Baked them all, and they look funny . . . :p Thinking maybe I'll take the icing tubes I bought, and "paint" over them for camouflage. Maybe I'll throw a few sprinkles on top and nobody will know?! :hilarious: Oh, they taste o.k., just look hideous.:joyfull:

I vote for two.

We had a Gingerbread contest at work and they had wrappers on some candy like Hershey kisses. Totally unacceptable!

I go with #2 mostly because it is far better organized and meticulously built with straight lines. A lot of both of them looks quite edible.

Very true. My dad at times for baking loves altering baking recipes like a mad scientist.

There was one time that mom had to intervention on dad due to how bad one of his cookie experiments went.

Mom is the same person who doesn't allow dad to do experiments on her recipes including brown bag apple.

The most important thing is that they taste good. I saw a recipe for gingerbread crinkle cookies, they don't require rolling out, just refrigerate the dough and then roll the dough into balls and roll that in powdered sugar and bake. They look nice and soft, but maybe I'll try them next year.
