So I have a question for the bakers. I'm not a baker so I thought I'd give making a chocolate dump cake a go, I actually the recipe on this thread and thought it looked easy enough for me!
The M & M's melted and basically disappeared, what did I do wrong🤷‍♀️

It does taste OK, it just doesn't look great 😂

M&Ms really can't survive much heat. In cookies if used like chocolate chips they're ok because it's not hot enough long enough for them to melt but in cakes the internal temperature is too high for them to survive and if they're used as a topping on cake they're exposed to high temperatures for too long of a time. The reason both chocolate chips and M&Ms get added to magic cookie bars after baking. The residual heat is enough to melt them just enough to stick but not completely melt.
