So, I bought a winter fleece set of sheets that retailed for $79.99. They went on sale for around $27.99, and I had a coupon for $5.60 over that, bringing the final price (with tax) to $23.99. My question is how can a store price it around $80, but still make some sort of profit on the same item, reduced to $23.99?!

It's probably a loss leader, meaning they may lose money on product X so you come in and spend money on a, b, c, d, e..............................
