It's probably a loss leader, meaning they may lose money on product X so you come in and spend money on a, b, c, d, e..............................So, I bought a winter fleece set of sheets that retailed for $79.99. They went on sale for around $27.99, and I had a coupon for $5.60 over that, bringing the final price (with tax) to $23.99. My question is how can a store price it around $80, but still make some sort of profit on the same item, reduced to $23.99?!

Maybe? Markup on some items is ridiculous but I'm still going with loss leader knowing what flannel sheets usually costOr on the other hand....esp for some products, they are not worth that much to begin with
