It's been subscription based for a while now. It's hard to find it as a perpetual license. I currently have it using my school's license. Before I was a student again, I used my work sign on for it. As someone who used to work in IT, I am 90% certain they were neither paying attention nor cared that I was using my work license on my personal computer.
If you use it a lot, it is probably worth it because it does work well. I dropped it because at the time it was almost $100 per year. However, the google one called WordPad sucks big time. And the other sweet thing that happens if you drop Microsoft Office which includes Word you also lose most of what you had been saving because the WordPad is not compatible with Word. I wrote a small book titled " What's a Queue and why do I have to be in it." When I tried to paste it to the WordPad I got a lot of gibberish and what was there was like one super long run on sentence. It doesn't visually show the pages or tell you when you have gone past. It is only good for one page things.

Basically I spent hours and hours writing the adventures of my travel life and now I have no way of retrieving it without more work than the original thing. I had a couple copies that I printed out on my printer, but there is still no way to electronically save it unless I pay the hostage money to re-establish Microsoft Word.

I bought a perpetual license back when I was finishing up my first degree for that reason. It's on my brother's and parents' computers. For their purposes, it's fine, and I only paid $25 for it. There have been a few newer features in Excel that have come out since then that I do use, but I have the school license with the latest version, so I'll use that until someone turns it off.

Perpetual does not work with office 365, do they?
Many computers are literally doing a switcheroo on customers who had the perpetuals by claiming they will not get any more updates with their perpetual.

Did anyone else see the Wonderful World of Disney: Magic Holiday Celebration, on ABC, Sunday night? I liked some of the entertainment, but wished that the 2-hour show focused less on the stage show performances.

Would have preferred more of a variety -- featuring segments of various attractions in the parks, etc. Also, it would have been fun to highlight the chefs and bakery workers while they created their amazing holiday treats and displays. Another segment of interest could have focused on the talented crews that create the beautiful decorations throughout all the parks, including the Christmas trees, hotel displays, etc.

We watched it an I agree that more parks stuff would have been great but the musical performances were better this year than last.

Basically, I did except I used a computer. I then printed it out just like a typewriter. I have asked a couple of people if they still had it available and I will see if I can scan it back into the computer. Otherwise even with the printed copies I may have to retype it to get it all back (just like old school typewriter and paper).

Not a huge fan of the Hough siblings so we didn't watch. I totally agree with you and showing the other magical areas. I'm assuming it was much like trying to watch the Macy parade for the actual parade and not all the extra entertainment.

Correct. When you purchase a perpetual license, you're purchasing it for the current version of Office and you won't get updates. My perpetual license is for Office 2016, so that's what my parents and brother have. They can't upgrade with that license, but for their purposes, it's fine. They can still use the free version of O365 cloud storage with it.

There's probably a free word to PDF converter somewhere on the Internet that you can use to get the file on your computer. Rather than having to go through the hassle of scanning it.
