I'll refrain from asking " Why does it matter if I have one on my fireplace, Wasn't one of them a coach and what do cars have to do with it":angelic:
Doesn't matter if you are to young to know those names, they were how a team wins constantly. Only a fool would bet against them plus I know if you are a Yankee's fan those names are just a wishful distant dream. They're all such a sad little group of, pardon the expression, athletes now. Whitey Ford pitched almost every game all season, Mickey Mantle played with his leg bleeding or hungover almost every game and the rest of the time almost never was on any injured lists. Today they take two weeks to recover if they cut themselves while shaving.

When I was a kid and lived in New York State, I would bring one of those new fangled, small 9 volt transistor radio's to school with me so could listen to the game during lunch and recess.

@MinnieM123 I went into my local Market Basket. But I don't understand the allure of it. First of all, the entrance I went through didn't have any handheld shopping baskets. I don't need a big carriage for a few items. Second of all, prices are really the same as any other supermarket. So my conclusion is....not really worth driving over there and dealing with people.

Mickey Mantle a well known boozer was an incredible player even when playing hungover. He is an all time Yankee great. One incredible feat was in 1970 when Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis threw a no hitter. Before the game he took a tab of LSD and was high as a kite when he pitched that game.

Was this down in RI? Whenever I shop at the 2 Market Baskets within my area north of Boston, they are ALWAYS cheaper, and their produce section blows away S&S. Hands down, Market Basket is the best (up here).

I realize that different areas may have different selections and prices. Sounds like wherever you went, wasn't the norm. Sorry to hear that.
