Yeah, they have better products now for curbing the clawing behavior. You can put a deterrent spray on something like speakers that you don't want the cat to claw. Then you put a scratcher right next to the place where the cat is clawing. If it gets really bad, they do make little caps for cat claws that you can put on.Yea, we all have different tolerances domestic pet-wise. Wouldn’t own a bird, fish are just boring, etc.
I actually did live in the same house with a cat for about 8 months, way back in the mid 80’s.
It was myself, another dude and his girlfriend, and another dude that had the cat, in a 3-bedroom rent house.
The cat tore up my speaker screens on my 1K stereo system, it seemed to be always whining, the cat box always smelled to hell, etc., etc., etc….!!!!!
Also, we had some friends back in the late 80’s that had 3 cats, and their entire home smelled pretty bad, most of the time.
Again, probably their fault, as they weren’t takin’ care of things involving the cats properly, but, it was pretty bad.
Sarah (youngest DD) wanted a cat once when she was pretty young. When we said no, she said her friend had one, and it was a good cat. We told her to get adopted by her friends parents, ‘cause we ain’t gettin’ no cat…!!!!!
Funny thing is, she’s probably more of a dog person than the rest of us are now…probably some sort of rebellion thing…!!!!!
The litter they make is better now too. The litter I buy is really good, plus I have the litter genie branded litter box, which is super easy to dump out and doesn't have the cat pee stick as much to the bottom as other litter boxes do. You also have to ensure that you're keeping up with the litter boxes and that you have enough boxes. The formula is number of cats + 1. So if you have two cats, you need three boxes. We actually have four, and they use every single one of them, though they have two that are their favorites. You do have to keep up with scooping the litter boxes (hence why I own a litter genie...).
The other newer invention that helps with the smell is HEPA filters. I personally think anyone with allergies should own a HEPA filter, but they absolutely get rid of the cat box smell.
My dad has always sworn up and down that he doesn't like cats. Tonight, I was looking for Jasmine and referred to her as "my cat" and he said "these aren't your cats; they're my cats." I'm like, uh, legally, yeah, they're mine, and also, you didn't even want these cats.
