Just a thought here, but back in the stone age, I can remember our dishwasher breaking down, Things were a little tight at the time but by an amazing stroke of luck my two teenaged daughters walked into the room. What do you know, two living, breathing, leaching perfectly capable of doing dishes offspring, walked in and were then conscripted to be our planet friendly dishwashing equipment.

It was amazing how long it took to be able to afford a new dishwasher. By some strange coincidence almost the same day that the youngest went off to college, we replaced the broken one. Yes, they did notice and complained about it. My response was, I understand your upset, but have you looked outside and seen my new cabin cruiser yet? They said no they hadn't to which I replied... "that's because there isn't one. There isn't one because all the money that I was going to use to buy my boat went to your college tuition. I'd say we are even". ;) 😇

Amazingly, they both still seem to like me.

In the case of my semi-functional manual dishwasher his upset comes from the fact that it should have originally been only a day or 2 as the new one was shown as in stock when we went to get a new one the next morning. The salesperson claimed it was out of stock and we would have to wait a week to take delivery of the new one. Anyhoo the new one arrived damaged and after several phone calls (confirming it was in stock) dh and James went to make an exchange in person last night. The sales person once again claimed it was out of stock and would make arrangements for delivery next week. The salesman handed the paperwork off as his shift was over. LONG story short it was in stock but the salesperson was too lazy/incompetent to check. By the time this was discovered it was too late to pull as the only certified forklift driver had just left at closing. Dh and James made a couple of trips to get coffee while waiting for answers.
Longer story short management is now involved as it seems we may not have been the only people who attempted to by appliances and wanted them the same day. We had free delivery thrown in which would not have been included had it been in stock. The new one has been pulled, the box inspected and dh requested to file a customer complaint in writing when he picks it up on his way home
Kid 2 failed dishwashing, so I only have one semi-competent manual dishwasher. Kid 2 does try but 2 hours later I have to do everything all over again
