Whoa! Power just went out for a few seconds. Luckily the computer stayed on as hubs has some sort of backup thing that keeps the computeer on -- for a while.

Anyway, power came back on, but we'll see if this happens again over the next day or so with the high winds. @FutureCEO , we're having the same weather system as you are in RI. (Heard also, that we could get lightning as well, today.) :p

Apparently I came close to having no power, a big tree came down on a road near me. Knocked over power lines.

Saw a clip , hundreds of guests sleeping for next several nights at MCO due to cancelled flights. Actually I’ve slept on the couches outside MCO main terminal waiting for my flight which are pretty comfortable. Much different from sleeping on the hard cold concrete of JFK and EWR ( Newark ) airport.

And people wonder why we'll need universal income soon

Considering how many people complained about the kiosks and how many needed help to get the kiosks to work..
I find these attempts completely idiotic.
its like "oh, cost cuts, lets fire 100 workers and put automation.. 3 days later.. oh.. nobody likes our automation because its hard, lets hire 200 workers to help users how to use the automation"

The work related injuries that could run into hundreds or thousands of dollars that affect company bottom line will be eliminated. Automation is not if but when.

Maybe, but automation failure can also happen. Imagine being served putrefact food because the machine could not tell if the product was of quality or not.. ;)
They will still need the human element.

Not really similar but a human element with knowledge was needed regarding my friend. His company IT dept was outsourced to India , he had to go to India several times a year to oversee third party partners. He was lucky to not be part of the stateside IT layoffs.
