Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Yah, I know a number of people who don't spend a day there.

As usual (not to disappoint any of you . . . ;) ) I'm the odd person out here. I absolutely love AK, and really enjoy poobering around, checking out all the neat details around each corner, reading any of the descriptive information about specific animals, etc. My only complaint is that when it's hot, it's even hotter in that park; and I've had to depart after a morning (on a few occasions) because the humidity from all the foliage is enough to make me pass out. On those occasions during a heat wave, I'll spend 1/2 day, and then the next day, I'll spend 1/2 day: hence, a whole day for AK, broken down into two visits. (Gosh, I'm clever that way . . . MinnieM123 gets what she wants, and doesn't stand for anything less . . . :p :hilarious: :joyfull: )

This last trip I took some very interesting photo's of the details that were carved in around the paths. They would be very good in the Thread 'where would you find this' the problem is I likely would only remember AK.

@MOXOMUMD , you recently mentioned that you and your daughter were starting your baking. Does this mean that you are already starting holiday cookies, etc., and freeze them until the holidays?

:) Oh, just passing this thought along to everyone here -- Saturday, Nov. 29th, is Small Business Saturday.

If possible, please try to remember the wonderful, small businesses in your own community that might be a source for some of your holiday gift shopping. They can't compete with the bigger stores, but they often do have unique merchandise you may not find in a shopping mall. Keeping some of your business in your local community is a win-win for everyone.

As a small business owner I echo that! Thanks!

I bought multiple gifts at the craft shows this weekend. Different type of business but small business non the less

Morocco??? Good grief, now we need to appease views from one park into another?

"If" they move that HAT onto Hollywood Hills which I believe is a perfect home for it, they need to back it in enough so it does not obstruct the view of the Tower of Terror. The view down Sunset Blvd is also pretty and they do not need to replace intrusive for different intrusive.

Yup - but just wait until you see DTD.
It is one long walled maze-like corridor from the West Side to the Marketplace.

I took heat for saying this back in April on another thread. I said it looked like a War Zone because so much was in demolished heaps and piles of construction materials. This is one area that photos do not paint the picture, the other was the HUB, also horrid from up by the castle, during Wishes/Castle Show and eating at Ray's, but still no comparison to DTD.

Id prefer if someone could just punch the bank top managers ( for making it so hard to get help as someone with hearing problems).
There is a lady in the bank that helps me the best she can. But she can do so much until the classic "security" wall blocks her help.

Also, in something completely different.
For those who wonder what my avatar means..
it says "You must be new here" in spanish (aka an internet meme)

I know that my bank has a toll free number for TDD/TTY services for the hearing impaired. I don't know if you can download a program for your computer or if your bank supports it, but you basically live chat with a bank teller. I used to date a hearing impaired woman and she had a unit that had a modem cradle, a keyboard, and a LCD display. She would dial the number on the phone, place the handset on the cradle, and type away!

Imagine the bank manager's face on the receiving end of those paws.

We also love AK and spend a good amount of time there. We love to go to Asia and the kids ride EE while I get a tea and watch the Bollywood dancers. That is just one amongst many routines we have there.

Not to ruin your track record, but you're not the odd person out in this case! We love AK, too. We're staying at AKL in Dec., and we couldn't be more excited to make this an AK "heavy" trip. We're staying for 6 nights, which is a short trip for us. We have our arrival day and one other day blocked out for AK. (We typically only plan one day in AK and stay 8-10 nights.)

I planned for an early TH breakfast - prepark hours to see if we can get some great pictures. Although I've been debating this. It's probably too late to change the time at this point, but what do you guys thinks? Is it too early to get there for an 8:00 ADR? Is it worth it?

We love Flights of Wonder and all the walking trails. My DS really got into the sticker trail book thing and wants to earn more stickers. Hope they're still doing that - as it was fantastically educational.

I guess I love AK because I can let my animal science nerd flag fly AND its disney. Double win!!
I don't think it is too early. The park will look beautiful then.

When will the HUB be done? Is it still a mess? *She asked because she would like everything to be perfect for her family's trip in Dec*

In all seriousness, it's really crazy how much construction is being done at the same time. Kind of reminds me of road repair. It may be more cost effective to go miles and miles and miles repairing the road, but the inconvenience to drivers is horrible. There isn't a park that doesn't have some kind of construction, and from what @JenniferS and @Gabe1 are saying, DTD is a mess. Even some of the resorts are in upheaval. :cautious:

And I know that this is a lose/lose situation for Disney - they don't do anything, we complain; they do too much, we complain. Hope it all looks fantastic when they were done so we can reap the benefits of this icky time. :)

THIS THREAD MAKES ME SO HUNGRY!!

Sorry for the yelling... I decided to make BBQ chicken in the crock pot so that I can munch away freely (while I read/chat) through out this lazy Sunday. Well, I really made it for DH since the Steelers are actually on TV in our area of PA.

Also have a fire going again today - might need to make some 'smores. :D:hungry:

Just back from HDDR. Fabulous show. I've seen it twice before, but they somehow manage to keep it fresh. The insertion of "Do you want to be a snowman ... It doesn't have to be a snowman ... Okay bye" had me laughing so hard I couldn't breathe! Even Hubby was laughing really hard.

First meal this trip where I have majorly over-eaten. Oh my gosh, I am stuffed.

And the pics:

(Oops, forgot to take this shot in a timely fashion.)

Oh my. That's some serious eats, right there...! :hungry: :)
