So, two parties for you over weekend -- sounds like a lot of cake and ice cream for the birthday boy! :joyfull: :D (P.S.: That was cool that the US Grand Prix was held in Austin last weekend. I imagine you didn't get a chance to see it though, as your social calendar was already full !!) ;)

Thanks, Minnie…!!! :)
Yep, the US Grand Prix has been held here at CotA (Circuit of the Americas) for several years now.
It was indeed a busy social schedule :D:hilarious:, but, I did manage to, literally, catch the last lap on TV…!!!!! :hilarious:

I laughed so hard when I saw the Astros sweeped the Yankees. 🤣

I also take issues with the Astros organization because of their history of known cheating, but given that Trey Mancini plays for them, I wouldn't mind seeing them get a ring.

Yea, I know Mancini came from the O’s.
Definitely a black mark for the Astros, but, I’m pretty sure they’ve been watched like hawks since, and that their success this season is more than legit.
Not sure how they compare to the Phillies, as I haven’t payed much attention to MLB this year, but, I hope they kick their tails…!!! ;) :)

We do too, but, it’s hard to win since we don’t play…!!!!! :hilarious:
I was mostly of the type of "no play" action. Once in a while, when I am overcome with daydreams I will buy a ticket or two. But that is very seldom. Usually, it is simpler to just take a few bucks and throw them in that trash thereby saving the gas money it took to go out and buy them. Now, at least here, we can spend an unlimited amount via the internet. Way to big a temptation.

Mancini was my favorite Orioles; I'm mad that they traded him. He came up through our organization, got colon cancer in 2020, and then beat it and came back to playing baseball. He participated in the home run derby last year. He's so classy and was a leader in our clubhouse. I'm glad he's getting to go to a World Series...but I'm still mad that they traded him.

OK, I’ve got some news and have been given permission to share…
A few years ago, Megan expressed to me her desire to write a children’s book. She also asked if I might be interested in illustrating it (more on that in a bit).
Anyway, it kinda’ got put on the back burner for a while, but, she recently started working on it again.
She called us tonight and said that she had finished a manuscript for the book, and had sent it to an editor. She received a nice rejection letter from that particular editor, saying that she liked the book, but, it wasn’t her genre.
Shortly after that, Megan threw caution to the wind, and sent it to 5 heavy hitters in the business, and has received offers from 4 of them (has yet to hear back from the 5th).
Now, here comes the crazy part…
One of the very interested editors is the former chief editor for Scholastic Books, and has edited all of the Hunger Games books…!!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull:
Still many more steps to go, but, she has her foot in the door.
As far as me illustrating goes, I told her that if things progressed to that point, I would do some initial sketches to see if they might be up to par. That would be awesome to be able to do. But, I’m my own worst critic, and, ultimately, hiring a professional would probably be for the best in that regard. A great children’s book would deserve great illustrations, and I’m not a professional in that regard.
Anyway, below are parts of the email Megan received from that particular editor…!!! :)

That's wonderful for her! I hope it works out for her!

This is exciting news. Megan is obviously talented, and she will reach her goal -- not to mention, it really helps that she has such a supportive family! (And, as the book moves along to green light status, think of the fun you both will have, collaborating on ideas for illustrations, etc.)

Best of luck all around, and fingers crossed!!

Thank you so very much, Minnie…!!! :)
Many more steps to go, but, it’s starting off promising…!!!

There’s a guy here that I run into from time to time at the corner store just down the road.
Several years ago, he won $50,000 on a scratch off, and promptly blew it all on a brand new, fancy Ford pickup…!!!!! :hilarious:
As far as I know, he hasn’t won an amount even remotely close to that since…!
