Did Disney even PLAN anything for the 40th? We heard literally NOTHING about any festivities!!And, every streamer/vlogger this side of anywhere, and then some, is at EPCOT Center this morning for the 40th anniversary today…absolute insanity…!!!!!
Not exactly a couple of speeches VOL, the band from Mexico, some cupcakes and merchDid Disney even PLAN anything for the 40th? We heard literally NOTHING about any festivities!!
Oh my goodness -- that is scary! Relieved to hear that you and your family are o.k. , as that is most important. I hope the clean-up process doesn't take too long, and you all can get back to your regular routines in due course. (P.S.: I don't live down South, but I watched a lot of news reports about the hurricane over the past few days.)Hope all fellow Magicians in Florida and Carolina are safe. We made it through 122 mph winds and thankfully no flooding. We are slowly getting cell phone services back but still without power. The 50 foot tree in our yard fell on our carport and partially on the roof of our house and took out much of our storage shed Definitely don't have it as bad as others.View attachment 670627View attachment 670625
Oh my! Our neighbors had that happen last year and were out of their house for a year! Hopefully it isn't that bad for you!Thank you @MinnieM123! Hopefully tree gets removed today or tomorrow. Then we will get a cleared picture of house damage. Like you said most importantly we are all okay!!

Yeah, it was pretty bad. A tornado came through and ripped the tree up. It severely damaged their house. They were headed to the basement at the time and they saw the tornado and the tree come down. Theu couldn't find their cat for a few days afterward, but fortunately everyone was alright.Oh gosh now you have me worried

Yikes! Were you evacuated? My best friend's husband lives in Fort Meyer and he was lucky enough to be in Greece for work when Ian hit, but now he can't get home because I guess the airport isn't open yet? He ended up flying to Denver. (My best friend stayed in Denver so her daughter didn't have to change schools...again. They had JUST moved back from Australia and they were told they wouldn't have to move again, and then the first thing the company did was send him to Florida right away, so she stayed in Denver and they visit each other once a month or so.) He has no idea if his apartment or car survived.Hope all fellow Magicians in Florida and Carolina are safe. We made it through 122 mph winds and thankfully no flooding. It's so sad....it seems like they missed a huge opportunity. I mean, merch is all well and good, but to not even really acknowledge the day in Harmonious or anything...no special snacks or performances. Do something special and you'll attract even more people who will then spend more money on that special stuff. You're shooting yourself in the foot to do nothing. They had retro entrance/attraction music. They had people lined up all the way around the walled-off core of “Future World” for 40th merch at the Creations Shop (no supply chain issues, as they were bringin’ out stuff as fast as it was bein’ snatched up). They had a pretty lame Epcot 40 “celebration” at America Gardens Theater. Some “suits” were there, but, none of them spoke.
They had a retro EPCOT Center attraction music SSE show in the evenin’/night.
They had zero for Harmonious.
I watched parts of several streams yesterday, and even some of those diehard Disney boot-lickers seemed a tad upset by that.
Essentially, it was nothin’ but a Bobby Paycheck Merch-fest, although I did enjoy the retro entrance/attraction music, and the SSE show.

That was how I felt when I came back from WDW! Unfortunately a lady with a toddler sat next to me. It was actually fine; her toddler sat in the middle and slept the entire way.Hurray! Empty middle seat in row 3! (So far. ) Nobody else board. Nobody else board.
