It's so sad....it seems like they missed a huge opportunity. I mean, merch is all well and good, but to not even really acknowledge the day in Harmonious or anything...no special snacks or performances. Do something special and you'll attract even more people who will then spend more money on that special stuff. You're shooting yourself in the foot to do nothing.
It was indeed pretty sad.
I was 19 days shy of my 20th b-day when EPCOT Center opened. My first visit wasn’t until Dec. of ‘88 on our honeymoon. The Norway pavilion was brand spankin’ new, and I fell in love with the whole park. Carolyn had first visited in ‘83, with her younger sis’ and uncle, before I met her.
All of the original attractions were still there back in ‘88…World of Motion, Horizons, Universe of Energy, The Seas, The Land, and the Journey into Imagination Pavilion. Plus, Maelstrom at the World Showcase Norway pavilion, etc.
The Wonders of Life pavilion didn’t open until Oct. of ‘89.
Also, Disney-MGM Studios didn’t open until May of ‘89, and AK not until about a decade later, so there was only MK and EPCOT Center to visit.
Such wondrous, original, attractions back then, but, now, all mostly goin’ to IP hell. What a joke.
Maybe they’ll have somethin’ better for the EPCOT Center (
) 50th…?!?!?!
Nahhh…
They’ll just probably fly a giant plane full of horse stuff over the Park and drop it on all the suckers below, who’ll then just dance in it, and declare it “Magical”…!!!!!!!
