I remember going to the city dump on Saturday with my dad, it wasn't until it closed that we had garbage pick up at the end of our driveway. I know my parents paid for the service because I remember them talking about the new expense when the dump closed. My parents rarely talked about expenses in front of us so that's probably why I remember it. Although even though we lived in the city limits our property had a large field, forest, and swamp and I know that my dad would sometimes dispose of some of our items in the forest and field instead of having garbage service take them (sometimes they charged for extra beyond the 2 trash cans allotted for the week). I know many of my old toys, including my Barbie dreamhouse are out rotting in the field/forest, well maybe not rotting since it was mostly plastic.
We go to the landfill every two weeks. Recycling I keep in two garbage cans in the basement. Two cans outside for other trash.
Our landfill doesn’t charge if you have half kitchen trash and half recycling. We always have more recycling.
I still have my DD’s Barbies, clothes, van, and house in the basement. She has all these friends having girls right now. We are going to split the Barbies among them. 😊

I kept a lot of my dolls and when my mom gave me my bins of stuff most of my Barbies weren't in very good condition. I had played a little too tough with them. The haircuts I gave them didn't look great and a lot of their feet/legs had been chewed (not by me but by one of our dogs). My Cabbage Patch kids are in great shape though and I still have their adoption papers too. But I like your idea of splitting up Barbies amongst your DD's friend's kids.

We have the Cabbage kids to a girl my DH works with to give her daughter. She loves them! I hated to just give them to Goodwill. They were in such good shape. I wanted someone that could love them.

This reminded me of when I was a kid. The town I lived in had two separate pickups each week -- there was a regular trash pickup (my dad put the barrels out on the sidewalk for them). Then, there was the backyard (in-ground metal barrel, with a handle to lift it out) that the workers would go on property to get, and then dump out the contents into the garbage truck. I think that service stopped when I was a teen.

Now, I assume in most communities around here, people just have one pickup of trash, but that includes garbage in the same barrels as the trash. None of this is under any private service -- it's just included in property taxes. (Since we only rent, I'm just guessing that's how it's billed, to the property owners.)

By the way, the only outdoor burning I recall as a kid, was in the fall when people burned leaves out in the street. After years of that, the town put a stop to that -- not because of the pollution, either. Rather, it was because when people across the street from one another burned big piles of leaves, the smoke could get so thick, that it would blind drivers. (There were a few car accidents due to this, so burning was banned.)

Serious question…what’s the difference between garbage and trash, as you seemed to make a distinction…?!
Also, as discussed before, if the property owner is paying for the refuse service through property taxes, you can bet most/or all of that expense is included somewhere in your rent rate.

Being rough on toys is common. I know I was rough on My Transformers and a good number of them are in bad shape. The Transformers I'm talking about the original ones from Hasbro back in the 80s. If I took care of those toys better, they would've been worth a decent amount combined.

As far as dolls go, I am not surprised due to my mom telling me what she did when she was a kid. She told she wanted to be in the haircut profession growing up before School counselor told her to go into office work instead due to her typing awards . She caused her dolls to go bald according to her with them wearing hats. I don't know what type of dolls.

Power walk faster than some jog;)
When I was in high school, we had fitness testing. We had to run a mile as part of fitness testing. I was allowed to walk it instead of running it (thanks to my very generous allergist who wrote me a note saying no running in gym because of my asthma).

I finished it faster than some people in the class who were "running".

I have a neighbor who jogs and tells me I need to do so as well. NOT HAPPENING! I have more invested in my knees than many do in their homes

I've never been able to run ever since I was a kid. It's always triggered my asthma. I can get up to a good cardio heart rate on a bike or elliptical and my asthma won't bother me at all. I've concluded that I should listen to my lungs and not bother trying to run.
