My old neighbors used to burn their trash, ugh. So gross. And since we are in town/village it is not allowed but they never got into trouble. I thought about calling the police on them but it would have been obvious it was me so I didn't.
Ask the police to just say that they noticed it when passing by. No need for them to know anyone turned them in. Besides smoke travels a long distance and someplace else might have noticed it, Your not the only one in the area are you?

I thought about asking the police that, but luckily they have moved and the new neighbor gets garbage service. He doesn't seem as trashy (punny ;) ) as the last neighbor.

Only family I know that burned their trash was the family the Navy Seals were targeting in the movie Zero Dark Thirty.

There was a day that it reached 100 at Logan Airport. That's somewhat rare, because the airport is right next to the ocean, with ocean breezes. So, that gives you an idea of just how unusually hot the temps were for around 6 days (high 90s to 100, in some spots). Plus, the humidity on a number of days was brutal. :(

more is coming. Granted it's a week out but the weather channel shows 97 here for 8/5

Gifs don't work for me. Not sure why. Maybe because I copy and paste them in.

It was! In the 70's it was the norm. We all got empty 55 gal. drums and burned all our garbage.
With burning your own garbage , were you still paying for waste disposal services in your property taxes? Seems like a spending for county services and you disposing of the garbage yourself.

Not all towns include garbage removal, in fact I have never heard of that. By us people pay for garbage removal it isn’t in any taxes. And I just looked it up and in Wisconsin municipalities don’t have to provide it, the article I read said most small communities don’t include it. So I guess that is why I haven’t heard of it because I live in a small community.

Pretty toasty, for up that way.
Welcome to (almost ;)) Texas…!!!!! :D
Due to bein’ acclimated over so many years here (it’ll be 46 years in August), I don’t even consider it “hot” until at least 105.
As far as the humidity goes, It’s much more prevalent in the earlier hours of the day, this time of year. By the time we get into the later hours of daylight, the heat has evaporated most of the humidity, and our “feels likes” temps are pretty much the same as our static air temps.
Most get used to it down here, but, many don’t.
As posted before, we’re used to the “double oven dance”…open your front door to an outside oven, then open your car door to an even hotter oven…!!! ;)

Right there with you. I can’t take strong scents. And if someone is burning their trash, I have to make sure I have fresh air and get inside really quickly. I can fill my lungs start filling up. 🙁
My DD can’t either. She doesn’t even have asthma.

My 2 least favorite places for scents are any perfume/cologne department, and the detergent aisle at any grocery-type store. Can’t get outta’ there fast enough.
As far as burning trash goes, both sets of grandparents burned all the trash they could on their farms back in the day. There’s definitely no trash burning allowed in our neighborhood.
We have 2 rollable 90 gal. cans outside just behind our side yard fence…1 for trash and 1 for recycling. We pay a fee to a disposal company for that service.
