@Figgy1 , I saw a vegan chef on a show, and she cooked a veggie dish. (You would have liked it, but I didn't care for it because she dumped in some cauliflower. :cautious: (Recipe would have been better with some burger in it, but since she was vegan, that wasn't going to happen. :p )

Anyway, she did have a good tip for people who shop at Farmer's Markets (when in season) on the weekend for veggies. Since produce is expensive (everywhere), she suggested that if you go to a F M, to shop at the end of the day. Reason is that the vendors have to package up their leftover veggies and haul them away. So, if you go toward the end, they'll be a lot more willing to cut you a deal if you buy veggies then. It saves them from hauling them away (and/or possibly discarding some).

In my case I get a better deal and what I want by going before official opening. It may have something to do with buying by the bushel/case/whole farm

Here are the pictures I took of our grocery store.

This is our soda section...it also includes iced tea drinks.

And here's the entire drink aisle, including juices and soda, etc.

Chips. You can see that it's cut off there is no longer chips. That's crackers and nuts.

And cereal....the one picture is one shelving unit, the other is the one next to it. One contains pretty much exclusively oat varieties that people eat with their yoghurt. The other contains more oats/granola, and then the bottom 4 shelves are our cereal selection: Corn flakes, cornflakes, and more cornflakes, tresor, cheerios, and coco crispies. And Smacks. That's it.

Smaller is better. My supermarket is the size of the city of London.

So maybe not that big but it's huge.

There are a lot of things that go on in decadent New Orleans especially during Madri Gras that are not for the faint of heart and that's putting it lightly. King cake with friends was special, then more drinking, eating, parade enjoyment, what people will do for the beads! With bars open pretty much 24 hrs a day during Mardi Gras, some peoples logic goes out the window .
Yeah, I'm not a party person at all anyway. I hate crowds....if I could do Disney without the heat or the crowds, that would be perfect, but for now, we can't go outside of the Summer vacation, which is in the hottest part of the year, and it's super busy. But Disney is worth enduring a little bit for....things like Mardi Gras, not so much. The parade line up is always right by my house and they block traffic off in and out of our neighborhood. And it's LOUD and crowded. We either go to my in-laws before the line-up starts, or we just stay put inside. This year they canceled the parade, so we didn't have to worry about it.

Just talked to my BIL. He is in NY city visiting his son. They are at the Elton John concert in Brooklyn!! I am soo jealous!!
I had backstage passes for an Elton John concert once. He did a benefit concert for Matthew Shepard after he was murdered, and since my brother was a friend of Matt's and was the faculty advisor or chairman of the University LGBTQ organization on campus, he got 2 tickets with backstage passes. We waited in the backstage area for like an hour, and left when the concert was set to start so we wouldn't miss it....and apparently 5 minutes after we went to get our seats, he came to the backstage area to say hi, so we missed it. Great concert, though.

Oh no I hate you missed him! That would have been so cool.
