My DD’s hubby’s grandfather used to drag race. When they first married, they would go see him. Her hubby also has done some. She sent me a video of one race. It was amazing as you said! They both have given it up now though.

Yep, and it can get crazy, too.
There was a funny car race earlier in the day where the chute failed and the guy ended up goin’ through the trees into the creek bed below…he was fine, but, it was nutso to see…!!!!! :hilarious:

I’ve never been to a NASCAR race, but, I’ve been to a few sanctioned drag race events. The most memorable was at the “Smokin” :hilarious: Alamo Dragway in San Antonio back in the day. I think it was an AHRA event, and not NHRA…? 🤔
The whole day was a total and complete flippin’ BLAST, and my bud and I were in flippin’ heaven, but, then the top fuel final ended up bein’ between (legends at the time) “Big Daddy” Don Garlits and Shirley “Cha Cha” Muldowney. IIRC, she took him by about 2/100ths of a sec….the whole damn day was AMAZING…!!!!! :joyfull:
I never went to any drag racing events. I did watch some on TV.

My dad was involved in racing. My dad had a job working at Milwaukee Mile in the pits in the early 70s. Wisconsin had stock car racing in the 70's, but NASCAR was not part of stock car racing in Wisconsin at the time. The biggest stock car series that visited Wisconsin was USAC. USAC had a stock car series at one time besides having Indycar races, and sprint car races.

My dad did work in the pits in the early 70s because of one of his neighbors was involved in USAC or the race track one way or another. My dad's job was to put out pit fires if there was any during USAC races at the Milwaukee Mile.

I recalled my dad mentioning that he met the drivers/ USAC and also ate with them during a all you can eat pancake breakfast at the race track. The people in question is AJ. Foyt, the Unsers, Jack Bowsher and others.

I think most of you know how much we love SW but 6000 for 3 nights is crazy when 50000 gets you a 6 month cruise with better accommodations. I so want to do this https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/ne...-ll-be-like-on-board/ss-AAUkZv9?ocid=msedgntp
Living on a cruise ship sounds like a good deal. A FL widow nicknamed Mama Lee lived on a Crystal ship for several years after her husband died. At the time she paid $164K a year to live on the ship and sail around the world. She loves ballroom dancing with the crew and fellow guests. She sold her FL home with 10 acres to pursue her dream.

Get those beans and extra carp outta’ there…!!!!!!! :D:hilarious:
You're the second Texan who mentioned they don't like beans. Now granted, I didn't grow up learning how to make chili, so I just found a recipe online and it had black beans. It also had ground turkey and the usual tomatoes, spices, etc. So that's what I make, and it's delicious (even though I made it) . :joyfull:

So, I'm just curious -- why don't you put beans in your chili?

Never realized your dad was involved in racing, years ago. That explains why you have a good insight into the sport! :)

Worked with a guy who loves all racing. He knew legend John Force and when he went to races, the drivers were very open in talking with the fans during race week.

A real Texan doesn't put chili with beans. Chili con carne is just that - chili with meat. I've tried Jalapeno Beans ( spiced beans ! )Also TX has two food groups, barbeque and tacos.

I joke, mostly, but, I am a card-carrying native Texan…!!!!! :D;)
I actually like chili with all kinds of stuff in it, too…heck, I even like Wendy’s chili…but, if you’ve never had a good ol’ bowl of Texas Red, you haven’t lived…just chunks of beef and spices…!!!!!!! :joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::hungry:

I watched the ResortTV1 video of their free ride.
For a “cruise” it all looks like too damn much work.
I didn’t see any relaxation/down time. It was all go, go, go, go, go…!!!!!
Bottom line, we’re not that big of Star Wars fans anyway, and even if we were, we couldn’t afford it without a major saving effort, so no skin off our beeeeeeehinds, but, again, I don’t wanna’ work that hard on a “cruise”, in the first place…!!! ;)

Reminds me of a WDW vacation. Wake up by 6, breakfast , bus to parks by 8am , all day in parks / disney springs, until 10 pm , back to hotel , rinse, repeat several days.

Follow up to the city zoo breach yesterday. Man appeared in court today and plead not guilty to two arrest charges.

Claimed "a lady" let him in to the zoo (before opening hours???). Said he wasn't encroaching on the tiger's territory, and he thought it was o.k. "I just wanted to get close to it. The tiger growled at me and that was all . . . I didn't realize I was trespassing or anything." 🤦‍♀️

Meanwhile, preliminary investigation by State Trooper's -- Zoo security staff ran to detain the man, as he tried to break into tiger enclosure. Troopers have video of the man scaling multiple fences, trying to get to the tiger. He also avoided multiple POSTED SIGNS advising the public to stay out of that area.

Judge ordered him to stay away from the zoo until further notice. He has to appear back in court in April.

Instead of wasting all this public money in court, just put him in the tiger cage he was tryin’ to get into in the first place, and let them work it out…!!!!! :D🤣

Yea, our Disney trips in past years were definitely same…commando city…go, go, go, go, go…!!!!!
But, the 3 Carnival cruises we’ve taken in recent years were definitely more relaxed.
I always got up before sunrise to sit on our balcony for the view…it was glorious…!!!!!!! :joyfull:

On my first time, I was more surprised by the insane amounts of sodas and sauces/salsas for stuff.

Yep, we definitely have choices comin’ outta’ our choices here in the states.
My folks are both in their 80’s and remember when the only thing on the shelf at the town store was corn flakes.
And, even then, most everything else they ate came from animals and crops they raised on their farms.
Different times, for sure.

Our days were at the parks between 7 and 8 expect for SWW which was at the park by 12am and in the park until close rinse and repeat. The exception was after midnight close and the next day would be a WP day or a shopping day
