Another thing I checked on out of pure curiosity…engine displacement…they’re all runnin’ 358 c.i. V-8s.
I know Indy cars used multiple engine types during the same races over the years. Some were definitely more prominent than others, but, there was variation.

Yep, as I remember, Stock Car racing was definitely much different in its infancy than what NASCAR is now. The cars had to be totally stock, as in what’s available to the public, in at least 500 production models of the car being raced.

That has been a complain for decades in terms of NASCAR.

I know NASCAR had a chance for their next gen car that raced today at Daytona to change that, but they didn't. What I do know is NASCAR was focused in slowing the cars down and improve the racing, but that is something NASCAR attempted for years with rule changes, but made it worse outside of Daytona and Talladega in the past.
