Reminds me of the whole conversation about Lobster. What you're calling fancy was peasant food just a century or so ago.
Saw a blog on a guy traveling in Venezuela. He ate at a McDonalds which is a scarcity in that country and the burger and fries were almost $10 US dollars. He said it wasn't even that good and has priced out most locals from even to go to eat there. Seems like MickeyD is a special occasion splurge meal over there. When I traveled to La Paz Bolivia at that time there was only one Burger King in the country and it was near my hotel. My order of saltenas , lomo sandwich, bottled water and coca tea ( to combat altitude sickness ) at another dining place was cheaper than the BK combo of Whopper , fries and a coke .Reminds me of the whole conversation about Lobster.
How an artificial scarcity plus some fancy chef giving recipes.. made them go from unwanted food to "top class".
That was so bad that some minorities hate when popular or fancy chefs decide to "fancify" popular and cheap meats.. creating dumb demand and inflating prices (first with wings then with oxtails). Thus leaving these poor groups unable to buy the little meat types they used to eat.
Except for Polenta and chick peas, I'm going to show my ignorance and say that I don't even know what the rest of that above mentioned items are. What type of veggies are sautéed and doesn't that mean shown to the heat and served basically raw? Or as my Dad used to say "walked through a warm kitchen"!I had sautéed veggies and white beans over polenta Tomorrow I'm making a soup with fennel, escarole and either white beans or chick peas
AgreeY'all flaunting your fancy food. Me.. hotdogs XD
With all the admiration I can muster, I must ask if you are not living in a different century then the rest of us. I think it is possible because I am convinced that my oldest daughter was reincarnated from the 19th century and cannot seem to leap into ours. Now that's not to say that there aren't times that I would like to hide in another dimension but I'm not sure why she seems to think that doing everything the hard way is a fun thing to do. Food, clothing (for her birthday she asked for patterns for clothing from the 1800's. Yup, something offered on Amazon),What you're calling fancy was peasant food just a century or so ago.
I don't blame him.Dad is complaining because they're no longer issuing DVC cards, you have to show it on your phone.
Nevermind that he has a working smartphone...
The only explanation I can come up with for all her cooking skills in particular, is that Figgy is truly a Renaissance Woman! (I doubt I'll ever achieve that status, myself, because if it doesn't come out of a box and fit in the microwave, it ain't happening! )Except for Polenta and chick peas, I'm going to show my ignorance and say that I don't even know what the rest of that above mentioned items are. Agree

Meh, no problem. We're currently at minus 7. I won't spend as much time outside, but definitely will go out anyway. The cold weather gives you energy, because it forces you to move quickly. How come it''s always wicked windy when it's freezing.
16 degrees, feels like 2
DOLE lettuce was the recall. I think anything up to an expiration date of Jan. 9. (Code numbers on bags can be found online under the recall.)I thought about a salad, but I think our lettuce might be part of the lettuce recall from Walmart. I haven't bothered to check yet.
Disney just announced a new batch of price hikes to everything if I remember correctly.Cedar Point is raising ticket prices by $10
I'm surprised it took them this long. I pay more for soda at the O's games WITH a discount.Disney just announced a new batch of price hikes to everything if I remember correctly.
