The Harbor Attack Experience

The first major component of the Studio Backlot Tour most people will remember is the Harbor Attack show. Those lucky enough to have been selected as volunteers would act out a scene in a large show area while the other guests watched. The purposes of this portion of the attraction was to show guests how water tanks are utilized on film sets to create special effects. Where else in Disney World can you have this sort of unique experience nowadays!?

I first saw this version of the Backlot tour in 2000 or 2001. I never was picked though.

I'm not going outside until Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nope can't make me and I may try and get out of it then:angelic::cold::cold::cold::cold::cold::cold::cold::cold::cold:
Keep warm.

Good thing you don't live in Wisconsin then. Monday is going to have a low of zero degrees where I live in South Eastern Wisconsin. My dad has to travel in single digits on Monday for injection in knee. The high on Monday is supposed to be 9 degrees at best.

As bad as the temps sounds to you It can get colder the 3 villages/small cities my mom grow up in. They considered up north by our family. One of the 2 small cities is going to have a low of 7 below zero on Monday night and the other one will be 8 below zero on the same night.

Don't worry, I have hot chocolate.

I remember it of course, but I think you had to be 18 to participate and the last time we did it I wasn't old enough to participate.

I want to punch your teacher.
Who in the ******* warped mind saying "no" while blushing is an invitation for more?
The teacher might have been a rapist or apologist in disguise to have that mindset.
Yeah, it was really not good of him. He went to our church and the worst is he had kids...what if one day some kid did such things to his daughter? Would he feel it was justified because his daughter giggled when she was nervous? My mom had always told me not to let someone know they hurt me, and to treat other people how I wanted to be treated. I was just not a kid who would tell a kid to back off or use stronger language, because I didn't want to hurt anyone. I thought if I was nice, others would be nice to me. I was really naive and ill-equipped to handle a situation like that. So since a lot of it was happening in this teacher's class, the easiest way was to avoid the kid. If he wasn't sitting near me, he couldn't make comments to me without anyone hearing. That's why I asked for the seating chart to be changed. I didn't even ask him to talk to the kid. All I asked was not to sit near him, so he didn't have access to me. It still doesn't seem like too much to ask. I think the teacher just had the typical "boys will be boys" mindset that says boys can't be expected to behave and girls need to learn how not to be harassed. It's the same mentality that says girls should just not go to parties, or be out after dark, or wear attractive clothing, because boys can't possibly be expected to behave themselves. And I was too shy to stand up for myself, and too nice to get anyone in trouble, even if they deserved it. That's why I say I wish I had held the teacher accountable....I wish I had had the courage to go to the administrators and say "This isn't right." But I was a 15 year old girl, and our administrators were all conservative old men who probably would have sided with the teacher and made me out to be promiscuous. I wore baggy sweatshirts, no make-up, I was near the top of my class academically, involved in student council, speech and debate, national honor society, drama, music...but just blushing was enough to make the harassment my fault. The chance that one of the administrators would have done anything about it is slim.

Both of my daughters went through college without a vehicle. They both had one sitting in the yard at home. The oldest went to Colorado College in Colorado Springs for four years and the youngest went to Tulane in New Orleans. Neither of their cars were new. We bought them cars but they weren't new cars and wouldn't have made it to Colorado Springs or New Orleans. So they shipped their stuff home at the beginning and end of each year and any holiday stuff was up to us to fly them home. I went to college at home and lived at home until graduation and had a car, but I worked part time to pay for it. The day after graduation I was in Amarillo, Tx in basic training for the USAF.
I bought my own car when I was in high school. Definitely not new, but I bought it myself. And I paid for my own college with part time jobs and scholarships. Neither of my parents paid a cent for my college or my car, except the year my car's transmission died when I was home for Thanksgiving and my parents both chipped in to have a rebuilt one put in because I didn't have the money to have it repaired that weekend and I HAD to get back to school. Everything else, I paid for myself. I bought my own clothes from the time I was 13, and I always had a job from the time I was 14. We lived below the poverty line, so I had to kind of pay my own way. My dad didn't believe in girls going to college, and he was bitter that he never got to go to college himself, so he wouldn't contribute to our education, and my mom couldn't afford to help. So my brother and I both had to get scholarships and jobs to fill in the gaps. My brother had a full ride, so he was covered, but I had to pay for room and board and books and personal expenses.
