Unfortunately, the link did not open up.
Aw yep...he has it set so only his friends can see it. It's a video of him opening the door to a wall of snow/ice. I'll do a screen cap.

In the last one, he knocked out a hole in the snow wall and videoed the outside....you can kind of see one of the SUVs in the back left corner of the picture. This is apparently what he woke up to yesterday morning.

Do you always go with your daughter when she goes back to school and go get her when she comes home? That's so nice of you to do that! I always just made the 4 hour drive myself. I don't even think my mom went with me when I moved into the dorm my freshman year. Certainly not for holidays like Christmas break.
Yes. She only drives a tiny VW Beetle. She has so much stuff. It wouldn't fit in her car. My daughter came home at THANKSGIVING and never went back. She was able to finish the Fall Semester online here at our home. Here are 2 photos AND not even pictured, but also going back is her mattress topper.20220108_072041.jpg20220108_072127.jpg

Nice. I had a big car (77 chevy malibu) and my brother had a tiny car (78 spider fiat convertible). He couldn't fit all his stuff in his car, so my mom made me leave some of my stuff at home and take his stuff instead. It's hard to fit 2 college students' worth of stuff in one car!! You couldn't really fit much in my brother's car. He's 6 foot 4 and weighs about 500 lbs, so he had to push the seat all the way back in his little fiat. His head stuck up over the windshield. There was another kid in our high school who had a very similar car, but his was dark green and my brother's was black. From a distance, you couldn't tell the 2 cars apart, but the kid who drove the other one was barely over 5 feet tall, so you could tell my brother's car by the fact that his head came above the windshield. We used to jam 4 people in his little car to go into town to the movies. 40 miles distance, and my friend Dawn, who was tiny, would sit sideways behind my brother....his seat was touching the back seat, so you couldn't put your legs down. So I'd sit in the passenger seat, and our friend Henry (short for Henriette....she was a German exchange student) sat sideways-ish behind me and Dawn would have her legs over Henry's. This was back when there were no seatbelt laws and we were stupid teenagers. Good times. Anyway, not much fit in his car. His trunk was about the size of a glove box. So I had to take all his bedding, his clothes, and the computer in my car and I don't remember now what I had to leave behind, but I wasn't happy with the arrangement. If someone was going to have to leave stuff behind, why was it by default me? But it was only that one time, because after that, I just got a job at the dorms and didn't come home over the summer, so I never had to haul my stuff back and forth again until I moved home to do my student teaching.

I admit it is pretty....but I have to clear that snow later today and my family of three has to take turns driving 2 vehicles back to our daughter's college in Lynchburg VA tomorrow. Yes I understand it will not snow tomorrow, but this is not what we were hoping for.
Tomorrow's high is only 32F . My All Wheel Drive SUV will be fine but my wife is concerned about our daughter's VW Beetle. Will the roads still be icy tomorrow? They should be totally taken care of by then I said. Yet, she is still concerned.
Your kid is lucky to have a car in college. Back in the day I used to go to the rider board ( no internet existed ) tacked on the wall at the student center looking for a ride to take me if not to my home but at least near a major city where I lived . For Christmas break, spring break or end of spring term I had to hustle to find a ride to go back home. Getting to college in August was no issue.

My college (West Chester U in Pennsylvania) was only 2 hours from our home in Brick NJ. My parents drove me there in late August. I had no car. They came back and got me for Thanksgiving. Brought me back to finish the Fall semester and then came and got me again for Christmas. I guess I was fortunate.
As for today....My wife and daughter are already on the road heading to Virginia in my daughter's VW Beetle. My Mazda CX-9 has most of her stuff. I drive faster than them and need less time at the rest stop...so I am giving them a 75 minute head start and then I will leave home to head to Virginia as well.

Do you make your own batter? Do you have a recipe to share? We have to buy packets from the Asian grocery store in Arnhem, but we don't get there very often, especially when there's a lockdown because there's no reason for us to go all the way to Arnhem if we can't go shopping or to a museum or zoo, etc. I'd love to be able to make tempura myself.
Sorry not a recipe, just gf flour corn starch and seltzer sometimes I'll add a bit of onion and garlic powder. Option 2 dredge in corn starch then into whipped egg whites beaten until smooth but not yet peaks and then dip in corn starch.

I just checked the weather. You may want to do the round trip today or you may get caught in an ice storm tomorrow
