Happy Birthday Betty Rose... You are a whole 85 days older them me, and that is something that I appreciate because otherwise I have to spend my days in this daycare of youthful humanity. Makes me feel a little nauseous just thinking about it. Don't get your hopes up @JenniferS, I still haven't blown chunks since July of 1976.

Let's see, what were we talking about... Oh, yea... Hope you have/had a very nice birthday Betty Rose and that both of us have many, many more.
Thank you so much, it's always nice to spend time with the kids and grand kids.

This leaves everybody with one available TS, in case I can get us into 'Ohana. If not, perhaps, Kona or the Rose & Crown. There are gaps in the schedule, that will have to filled in when I make FPP reservations.

I've tried to offer the GF a variety of Disney Dining experiences - a couple of fancier meals, some romantic meals w/Ski, some fun, some characters .... How did I do?

And now I need COFFEE!!
Hello!

My only feedback:

Be flexible on the waterpark days. Weather in Orlando is unpredictable. Have two or more possible waterpark days and pick the best one once you are down there. Plan FP+ reservations for all days and cancel or change as needed for whichever day they choose to do a waterpark.

I would send them to someplace other than Coral Reef. Our experience is that it is hit or miss, and in the summer, it's usually a miss. Replacement suggestions: Teppan Edo, Tutto Italia, La Hacienda, or Cape May at BC if they like seafood. Cape May is 100x better than Coral Reef for seafood. And bonus...it's a buffet! Well worth a DDP credit IMO. If they are looking for more romantic, either Tutto Italia or Cape May. Tutto Italia is very romantic IMO and Cape May you basically get left alone for the duration of your meal, and you can stay as long as you want; no one rushes you out

If you don't get 'Ohana, Kona on your first day would be good. That way, if it starts raining or you need a break, you can hop on a monorail and go hang out there. Lobby isn't as nice as it was with the water feature, but it's still a nice area to chill and walk through gift shops.

Thanks.
We have been to WDW in August at least half a dozen times - I am no stranger to the fickle summer weather.
One year, we rode out Hurricanes/Tropical Storms: Katrina, Lee, Maria, Nate, and Ophelia. (I remember them so well, I didn't even need to look that up. :hilarious:) Flexible is the name of the game.

As to Coral Reef - it's Jordan's favourite. Not mine. (You'll notice Mike and I opted for a couple of Signatures instead.) Cape May is always a consideration. Either for the character breakfast or for the yummy dinner buffet. It is not in the least bit romantic though.
Tutto, I haven't been to, but he really liked Chefs a few years ago, so Chefs it is.

Still trying for 'Ohana, although the menu changes to do not make me happy. Kona is a solid ressie - whether it be for brekkie or dinner. I've heard lunch is good too.

He's done the DDP for three years, times ten days, so he has a pretty good idea of what he likes. Coral Reef multiple times per trip, if he could ... Mama Melrose never again!

I am so looking forward to seeing the new Poly lobby. Last November it was walls, walls and more walls!

Tonight's dinner:

Two ginormous cabbage rolls.

With milk, of course.

And after I cut it all up into bite size chunks, and added some more sauce:

It was so much food, I could scarcely eat it all. I did, mind you, but then I needed a nap.

Out for a walk with Hubby now. Back in a bit.

Whatever floats your boat. Coral Reef I just warn everyone about. Last time, the wait was long, the restaurant was noisy, and the food was not that great (plus, I don't like fish. The steak was okay, though).

And you know I've never had a boyfriend, so the concept of romance just escapes me. I get asked the questions on online quizzes about perfect dates, and I'm like, "Couldn't we just stay in, order a pizza and watch some Netflix?" Cape May is nice and leisurely, though, plenty of time for talking. And they tend to leave you alone other than asking if you want a refill.

We might have been down there at the same time...I too was there for Katrina. Charlie was the other one we were there for. Charlie was definitely worse than Katrina; I don't recall Katrina doing too much.

Chefs is my favorite(although, even with my lack of knowledge about what is romantic, it's not romantic). I can see why your son wants to eat there. Sad because they took it off TIW and we haven't been in over a year (last time I went was with bestie). When I went with my Bestie, as teens, we sometimes got subpar service from waiters and waitresses who clearly did not want to be serving two teens. There were places that were great, like BOG, SciFi, and Teppan Edo, and there were places where the wait staff definitely had an attitude, like definitely Kona. Chefs was the definite exception. The service was excellent, the waitress probably the most friendly one the entire trip, and the entire wait staff was great. So I can see why your son wants to eat there. Great food + staff that doesn't mind waiting on young people = excellent.

We've liked Tutto the past few times. It was not great there for a while, but now it's gotten better.

Have not been to Ohana. Love Kona. Went twice in one day with Bestie. We went for breakfast, pulled a long MK day, and came back for dinner. Oddly enough, there was a staff member there for both meals. We recognized her and said, "Boy, you've been here a long time." Evidently, she started at 6 am, went to midnight, and then came back the next day (Sunday) and did the exact same thing. We felt really bad for her. Learned an important lesson, though. Sometimes, when a CM is not smiling or looking the best, it's good to remember that while you are on vacation, they are not, and sometimes, their job just plain sucks. They're just trying to support themselves and/or their families.

My family is part Cajun. Unfortunately, my Great-grandparents were the last in my family that still spoke Cajun French.

I saw @Andrew C Cajun comments earlier too. Cajun is a very interesting mixture, most are not just Arcadian but a mix of just about anything from English, Irish, and Spanish plus some also have German and Italian mixed in there too. To me, the only less defined are we, Americans with such a mix of ancestry. But there is something about the warmth of Cajun's that endears me to the culture more than the ancestry.
