Gotta love it feeling like 100 degrees at NOON.
Gotta love it feeling like 100 degrees at NOON.
The worst part about it is the AC. I get hot because the upstairs AC, where my desk is, is set to 74 degrees. So I turn it down to 72 degrees. Then because the vent is directly above me, I get cold. My mom thinks I'm nuts. I tell her she can try living without a thyroid and tell me how she fares.Gotta love it feeling like 100 degrees at NOON.
No gigantic fan? XDI asked some who lived in FL how did they survive without AC back in the day. One guy advised me he would drink ice cold lemonade kicking back in his rocking chair on the front porch late into the night with his friends then when tired, then retired for the night using no blankets and just a pillow and bedsheets.
You can't move the vent wings to move the air elsewhere but you?The worst part about it is the AC. I get hot because the upstairs AC, where my desk is, is set to 74 degrees. It doesn't matter. The vent right behind my desk chair facing parallel from it. So no matter which way I move it, it always blows out the side towards meYou can't move the vent wings to move the air elsewhere but you?
Can you make a draft stopper to put over it. Blankets, drop cloth and duck tapeIt doesn't matter. The vent right behind my desk chair facing parallel from it. So no matter which way I move it, it always blows out the side towards me
I'd have to be taller to accomplish such a thing. Nah, the jacket that lives on my desk chair will be sufficient. Can you make a draft stopper to put over it. Blankets, drop cloth and duck tape
In some of the bedrooms had box fans but living in the South without AC, the residents just got used to it, nowadays are dependent on AC.No gigantic fan? XD

Quoted from @Figgy1 making an adjustment to my, right on, post. Whatsamatteryou woman... you been heavy into the cooking sherry today?Better get there early because the greatness gets crowded really quickly. Told to me by a friend.
When I first moved here to NC in 2011 I have to admit it took me awhile to acclimate to the heat. I remember going to a local car wash and the waiting room had a book about the history of the town I lived in. There were pictures of people at the July 4th celebration(circa 1900's) and I couldn't believe what they were wearing. Men had three piece suits with stiff starched collars and hat. All items were either black or very dark, it's hard to tell with black and white pictures. The women wore long dresses, dark also, to their ankles, with long sleeves and what looked like turtle necks. Black shoes and massive hats that they might have filled with ice for all I know plus gloves. They had umbrellas to, but summer afternoons around here are liable to bring in some heavy rain but until the rain comes I suppose it did supply some shade. I just cannot imagine what the draw was to live here at the time.I asked some who lived in FL how did they survive without AC back in the day. I'd have taken a piece of cardboard and some duct tape and directed the air flow to one side by now. Probably not pretty but could be effective. It doesn't matter. The vent right behind my desk chair facing parallel from it. So no matter which way I move it, it always blows out the side towards me
It's not that hot, it's only 98 right now at 3:30pm here. But that it really normal temps here this time of year. What we need reduced is the humidity.Gotta love it feeling like 100 degrees at NOON.
The Latino guys that replaced my roof wore long sleeve shirts , bandanas , long pants and hats and the temp was 95 degrees. Up in the roof was probably much hotter. I actually copied them when I used to cut my own grass. It actually helped me get much less sunburn for one thing. When I first moved here to NC in 2011 I have to admit it took me awhile to acclimate to the heat.
