It's almost not an issue. There is plenty of nasty currently. At least not the norm! I was reading somewhere that the Palace of Versailles had no type of facilities at all and people, male and female, just lifted a leg (as it were) and did anything in any corner or wherever they happened to be standing. It was reported that the odor in the place was unbearable. Good times!
Ah, well Paris in general smells like a sewer. Or it did the last couple of times we were there. Antwerp in Belgium was even worse. I'm guessing these days it has more to do with people being out partying and needing a place to go on their way home, and also homeless people. Some places are worse than others, obviously...the subways are nasty. But it must have been quite ripe a couple of centurie ago when everyone was just going wherever they were. That, plus people not bathing every day and wearing the same clothes for several days in a row....yikes.

I can honestly say that I have never been quite that "pinched". Close to it on my Trans-Atlantic cruise from Italy to Florida. It was a 5 or six day cruise and I think if it went one more day it might have pinched enough to do that. I was quickly running out of clean clothes. I almost felt bad for the Customs agent that had to rummage through dirty clothes in my suitcase. 😬😧

Fortunately, the apartment we rented in Rome had laundry equipment. Way different than anything I tried to operate in the past, but I finally figured it out so I started out on the cruise with everything clean. It was a chore to keep up with it after three weeks touring parts of Europe. Now that I think of it I might have had to resort to sink washing along the way, but I have conveniently blocked that part out of my mind. 😎
Knew guys on long business trips staying in hotels. Some washed their underwear, t shirts ( even using facial soap to substitute as laundry detergent ) in their hotel room sink and hang dry on top of the clothing rack in the closet . One has to improvise when one has to.

You are correct, it doesn't paint a pleasant picture does it.

That is correct. When my parents visited the Palace of Versailles approx 15 years ago there are no bathroom facilities nearby. When my sister in law visited Paris, she said the most disgusting public bathrooms were in Paris.

Get into argument with someone online.. dude keeps claiming I'm ignorant.. ask him about information to back his point.. refuses and says I'm uneducated and a lazy child.. tell him the burden of proof is on his side.. dude bundles and still refuses to share data claiming I should "just google it"...
Still ask for where is the information he got the "knowledge" to prove I'm the one wrong.. refuses.. miraculous.. new account with zero friends, zero views, fairly recently created with tons of "likes" related to the point the other dude is trying to push.. writes "noone owes you the information".. then later on claims I'm the one deflecting.. :hilarious:

oh lord.. sometimes I love having an "adult discussion" online.
