I saw maybe the last 10 minutes (on ESPN) of the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. I was actually rooting for a guy from MA (who came in 2nd today, by the way).

But, I mean, Joey is THE MAN!!! :hilarious: My gosh -- 67 hot dogs and buns!!! :jawdrop: :jawdrop: :joyfull:

Side note: ESPN really dropped the ball with their live feed today -- it kept pixillating and they lost the feed a few times -- AND at the most critical time when the contest ended and Joey won. They got the picture back AFTER the final moments of the competition. :banghead: Now, everyone knew that Joey was multiple dogs ahead of the 2nd place competitor, but it was so frustrating not to be able to see the end of the competition, when it was live.

And how is it that stuffing all the food down inside of him, doesn't kill him??!!

It was 76, actually, so he broke his previous record of 75 by one dog...!!!!! :hilarious:
I heard he doesn’t eat anything for a coupla’ days afterward, and then starts by eating salads...!!! :)

I haven't heard the word powder room in a long time. I know it is a bathroom without a shower but why is it called a powder room?
I don't know for sure, but my guess would be that before running water, women would often go to powder their faces during a ball or dinner party and there would be a secluded room for that purpose. If there's no shower or bathtub, it can't really be considered a bathroom, because you don't bathe there. In Europe, we have the rooms with just a toilet and sink and they are called Water Closets, but a powder room to me is more for women to check their makeup and hair, but powder room sounds a bit nicer than "Toilet", so I'm guessing that when running water became a "thing", they added that to the powder room, but kept calling it that? I don't know, but seems a plausible explanation.

@Lilofan , do you have any vacation plans for the summer? (You've travelled to many different destinations around the world in the past, so I was just wondering if you had resumed any plans to go abroad?)

Then again, I think some of your previous travel was often for business. So I'm wondering, with even some border restrictions opening up, if there might possibly still be some hesitancy for some business or leisure travelers, as to when they're comfortable resuming more long-distance destinations.

At this point me, my family and friends who plan to travel and are all vaccinated still have hesitations to go abroad to include cruising. We are going with wait and see what happens mindset. In the fall, we plan to visit New England ( where I went to school ages ago ) to see the fall colors, crisp cool weather , actual landscapes to include hills and mountains . This might sound odd but flat land, and palm trees 24/7 does get dull at times.

He is blessedly at work. I think my sanity is somewhere in Florida.

We got home and he, B, and I all had a fight over the bathroom.

There are four bathrooms in this house.

Why in the world did you have to fight over the bathroom if there are 4?

Because B will only use the powder room, which I got to first, but my dad tried to insist he use that one first. I told him female bladders have priority.
So what is the name of the Asylum again?
