@93boomer also lives in the mountainy area of NC. Don’t know if she responded to your post.

Sorry to butt in but I do know about some of the areas you mentioned to @Goofyernmost. Boone and Blowing Rock are two beautiful areas, home to Appalachian State Uni where my DD attended undergrad and grad school. She lived there for 6 years. She now lives in Greensboro, which is another pretty city. No mountain views there due to being flat land. Hickory, Lenoir area nice and views of mountains. Easy to get to all these cities on major interstates. Good luck in your planning. Lots of info online if you search it out.
I see she did reply @SteveBrickNJ . Have you not thought of SC? It may be a bit less expensive than NC.

Yep, the later nights/early mornings of the 3rd and 4th were nutso here too. It sounded like a bonafide bombardment, and the dogs, including Ranger (for the first time ever :cyclops:), but, not Pi, were having serious issues.
Who has that kinda’ money to, literally “blow”, on freakin’ fireworks...?!?!?!🤔
We love fireworks, if we go to see them, but, this was just ridiculous... :bored:
By us they were selling buy 1 get 2 free on July 3rd and 4th. My development was quiet though. Was nice to see the spectacle of fireworks from other places in the valley though. My cat Oliver watched the town ones from our kitchen table. He was laying down on it and when they started shooting up he got up and got closer to the window and watched a little. Then he got bored and laid back down.

Yes regarding SC.
Everything is on the table.
Yet if our daughter (entering her sophomore year as a Communication Major) happens to get a job after she graduates in or near her University in Lynchburg VA, we probably wouldn't want to be so far away from her as SC.
It's all daydreaming at this point and we'll see what the Lord has in mind "down the road" ;)
