I have never seen so many as this year. Driveways covered, gutters filled over the top with them. All of the pots I have planted are covered every morning. And the grass. Ugh. Some of my neighbors are using leaf blowers, and picking them up like leaves, so they don't end up with scraggly maple forests.

I have tried getting them up mowing but most of the time they just remain stuck in the grass.

I haven't seen them yet, but boy are they loud. I'm inside and I can hear them.

My Mom has them again this time. Her area gets them every time they come out. She said they are crawling by the hundreds up their old oak tree. They leave their shells on the ground and look so gross!

I wonder if they taste similar to other fried bugs. Apparently its a "thing" here in Mexico that has been a "hit" with tourists.

So I was gone for less than a week and in that time, the cicadas decided to come out in full force.

More pollen up here than cicadas

In MA as well -- the pollen has been unreal this year. (I don't have allergies, but the pollen is thick on top of everything. If we can get some rain, that might help.)

I thought we were finally past the tree pollen, but nooo!! The pine pollen decided to be three times worse than normal!! And that is what bothers me the most. Good I take allergy meds and nose spray! I still cough and sneeze. I can’t imagine not being on anything. Plus, my asthma is allergy-induced.
