And that entitles them to admonish others? I made a light hearted comment in response to yours that this IS the basement (as it's at the bottom of the thread list) and I'm told that since I don't really know what that means I shouldn't be here? That's polite and proper and worthy of discussion in the lounge?

In other news..............I'm glad to see that diesel fuel isn't increasing in cost as rapidly as gasoline (at least around here). Saw today where diesel was only 5 cents a gallon more than regular unleaded, something I like to see now that I have a diesel Wrangler that's averaging close to 30mpg.

The basement is the politics section, now gone. This thread has been around for years, many of us have been regular since the inception, and while we're happy to have others join, we value kindness and courteousness, and we want to keep this thread peaceful. The warning you got was simply a warning not to let things get political; it never ends well, and then the mods have to come down here and that's no fun in our peaceful little oasis.

I appreciate the value of kindness and courteousness and knew there was a reason I liked reading your posts, it's the first one directed at me today that actually contained those elements. Thanks for that.

Also for whatever it's worth @Laketravis we've all gotten the reminders from time to time about keeping topics non political and non religious, etc. Nobody was trying to single you out. Sorry you felt that way. It's just that without being vocal about expectations in this thread, it's impossible to get nearly 12k pages from the "thread rules" without them getting lost.

It wasn't personal. I hope we can all move past this.

We’re all fine. A little noise, a lot of heavy, blowin’ rain, that really didn’t hang around very long.
By the time I hopped in my ride at 6:10p to head home from the office, the sun was shinin’ brightly in the west, and the roads were almost completely dry. No biggie, and we needed the rain...!!!

Finally filled my car with some gas today, I had planned to on Friday but then I didn't end up driving anywhere until today. My cost per gallon was $2.89 and I saw another station was at $2.90.

Those were the days I can remember when gas stations had gas wars --lowest I remember 24 cents a gallon. My 56 Chevy hot rod got 8 miles to the gallon if I kept my foot off the gas. Gas just jumped to $2.89 here (ridiculous)

We had (and Mom and Pop still have) a ‘70 Chevy Camper Special with a cabover camper (minus the camper for many years now) on it back in the day.
Has a small block 350 with a Rochester Quadrajet, and the best mileage it ever got (with the camper on it) was 12 mpg highway with a tailwind...Pop kept accurate records regarding our camper road trips, but, otherwise, I have no clue what it got/gets city-wise, or with the camper off, but, I’ve driven it many, many times since, it’s pretty funny how fast that gas gauge plunges...!!!!!

I got it yesterday coming home from Hershey. As I suspected, middle of nowhere had it with no line. $2.99, but that's our average right now.
