That's basically what we do, too...I've currently got a 7...when I need something it doesn't have, I'll get a new one and this one will get passed down to either one of the boys or hubby (our youngest has an old iPhone 5 with no cellular service for games...it's like an iPod).

We don’t have a desktop at home, and I almost never use our one laptop. The vast, vast majority of my internet is all from my phone. Just so much more convenient...!!! :)

But, but ... don't you like to have a nice keyboard on a desk at home? I'm comfy with this set up, and I have coffee, and crackers and peanut butter. My dog, (Jack) is sitting on the floor next to the desk (but that's really because he smelled the peanut butter). :p

We have Samsung here dh has current technology only because his was getting wonky and got a good deal with trade in, mine is a few generations behind but I only use it as a phone and when James replaced his phone he wasn't worried what it could do beyond the basics because he has 2 decent computers
We actually got our oldest one (cheap on eBay) for his first Disney trip because he's easily distracted and we could use the Find My iPhone feature to track him down super quickly if he got separated from us...we just ended up keeping it on instead of having the cellular turned off after our trip. That feature has also saved our butts the couple of times our oldest left his phone at school (you can mark the phone as "lost" or even erase it completely remotely), AND the multiple times our youngest has just misplaced his because we can make the phones play a sound (last time, it was INSIDE the body of the sofa!). We also use Family Share for basically everything including our extensive music library, and I can set the boys devices so they can't even download anything without me entering a password. They've also recently added parental controls for screen-time, which is nice.

I've been an Apple fan since the early 1990s, and they haven't really ever disappointed me aside from price, but we've always gotten our money's worth from our purchases. (I wish I could afford my dream Mac computer though!)

I have a home office...with tons of equipment and desk/table space and 2 comfy chairs. My computer is a work-horse with 6TB of storage internally and a 22" monitor. 🤪

Same goes for hubby! He doesn't use any kind of social media though - not even forums. It took him a long time to understand that you CAN make real friends online. (I met my bestie in a Disney FB group and we've met each other's families...at Disney, as a matter of fact, lol.)

Yep, we met several folks from a long-defunct Disney-related forum back in ‘08, during the also now long defunct “Mousefest”. None of the friendships lasted, and I have no clue about any of them now. 🤷‍♂️

My bestie and I are going on 7 years...we chat daily. 🙂

ETA: Sometimes it's just a "good morning" or "hey!"...but there are also still days where we're "in each other's ears" all day.

I have two 27” monitors at work, and they are awesome, especially for my older eyes...my regular vision is 20/20, but, I’ve needed drug store cheaters since my early 40’s for close stuff. Have only been at 2.50 for years now, though..!!! :)

I have an astigmatism that's different in each eye...it STINKS. Progressive lenses became a must a couple of years ago. I do a lot of graphics work, so a huge monitor for me is pretty much a must.

Sorry to hear that.
I have no problems with astigmatism, but, have had annoying floaters for many years. Although, it has progressed as I researched...your brain actually tends to ignore them at some point, and although they still pop up from time to time, it’s nowhere near as annoying as it used to be...!!! :)
