I have a Bosch front loader and love it. It's survived years in my house without issues:joyfull: That being said it wasn't cheap but we've certainly gotten out money's worth out of it. I'm not sure it would be worth it for 2 people but I would suggest it for anybody who has Mount Laundry to deal with or boys that get extremely dirty
That's what I have, too...a Bosch. Top loaders are pretty much non-existent here, and the ones they DO have are different than in the US. They have a tiny little opening to put the clothes in and take them out. I had a machine that broke several years ago, and when we replaced it, we got the cheapest one we could because we didn't really have money to replace it at that time, but needed one. That machine was terrible. After a year, it broke and I had to pay another 200 euros to get it fixed when the darned thing cost 400 new! When it broke again last year or so, I said forget fixing it....I'm not investing any more money into a machine I don't like. So I called my repair guy and had him recommend one. He sells them along side his repair business. I LOVE my new one. Like you said, it was kind of pricey, but it's so worth it! And he walked me through every cycle, what it does, what to use it for, etc. I am going to miss my repair guy when he retires...he's amazing!

Thanks to you and @figmentfan423 for your input -- very much appreciated.

As for Speed Queen and Bosch, I really don't have the budget for those brands. But thank you both, just the same -- very helpful information. (Also, as Figgy mentioned, my need is just for 2 people anyway, so I don't need top of the line.) Some of those Bosch, etc., are pretty slick looking though in the showroom. ;) Gosh, they've elevated buying a washing machine, to the level of buying a new car or something. :hilarious:

@John park hopper , that was a tough experience you had with your low water/electronic washer. Yikes. Just so you know, I've read quite a few reviews of various brands, and it seems a lot of the complaints are with some of the electronic models -- and people cited similar problems to yours. Very happy to hear that you found a basic GE model, that has worked well for you and your wife now.

Also, your comments about the agitator convinced me to buy one as well, even though I liked more space in the machine with an impeller. But, I'd rather go low tech,, and not have it die on me, you know? :)

Thanks again everyone for your input. Lastly, one thing I learned was that a number of these companies are now owned by one. For example, Whirlpool Corporation owns: Whirlpool, Maytag, Kitchenaid, Roper, Amana, and Jenn-Air. I think all were probably more reliable, when they were separate companies. 🤷‍♀️
The one I had that was so cheap was a whirlpool. When it broke a year after I bought it, I called my repair man and he came and looked at it and asked "Who sold you this? This is nowhere near enough of a machine for your needs! This is a model meant for a single person who only does one or two loads a week. Not a family of four who does 2 loads per day!" At the time, I didn't know he sold machines himself, too. He told me next time to call him, he would give me a good price, and he also did trade ins. He said he never would have sold me the whirlpool I bought because it just wasn't made for my needs. It would have been fine for someone who doesn't need to do laundry every day. So that's why I called him when it cratered. And he was so helpful in picking out a new machine. You really can't beat the family business guys who do the repairs themselves. They depend on return customers so they work so hard to give you good advice and service to make sure you'll come back.

I hope your new machine works out for you. I doubt you have to do as much laundry as I do, so it will probably be fine for what you need. Whirlpool used to be a really good brand from what I remember, and it probably still is, IF you get a machine that's right for what you need.

The news said he'll survive but surgery for multiple injuries. :(
Our news said broken ankle and leg, but they didn't make it seem very serious. They also showed a clip of the responder who found him and said he asked him questions to see if he was oriented and that he seemed lucid and calm. Then they ran through all of the accidents he's had in the last several years....they need to take his license away! This is his 3rd major accident, the first two he was using controlled substances, and this one they said he was most likely speeding excessively. He shouldn't be driving if he won't do it safely.

Glad to help --new technology is not always better and electronics around moisture seems to be a problem. Our old washer was a Kenmore mechanical dial and agitator and lasted 22 years. Just replaced our Kitchenaid dishwasher with a Maytag dishwasher and can't say enough good things about it--made by Whirlpool. Same here can't afford Bosch Maytag was less than half the cost of Bosch

Had to smile when I read this. My mother's (Maytag, I think it was) washing machine lasted over 25 years, and there were SIX of us in the family!!! :jawdrop: :joyfull:

Excuse the randomness of this post but I just stumbled across this rare plush doll and I need help figuring out what Disney was thinking when they splashed pink all over Tigger and turned him into the Pink Panther? This is urgent.

That reminds me of a job I had, back in high school. I was a (part-time) sales clerk in a toy department. There was a shipment of Snoopy dogs, and one of them had pink ears, instead of black! The buyer for the department told me that sometimes vendors will try to slip in an "irregular" one (perhaps ran out of the black material and substituted pink), just to complete the number of items in their shipment.

I asked her if she was going to send it back and request the correct one, and she said no. She assured me that some customer would definitely buy it, because it was unique! :joyfull:

Snow was melting today. It was its highest temp in a long time with it being 50 degrees as a high.

There is sad news for my younger brothers Island in Animal Crossings: New Horizons is Snow is going to be gone from his island tomorrow despite snow storm on Monday and it is sad news because he made a quite bit of extra money from the ice and snow items he made. Dung Beetles also show up during snow season and you can catch them for more money.

His island is located in Northern hemisphere instead of the Southern Hemisphere. The Southern Hemisphere gets snow from late May to late August.
Mine is a southern hemisphere island. Been waiting patiently for the snow to return.

Jimmy Woo - From the Ant-Man series, he was Scott's parole officer
Darcy - From Thor, she was on Jane Foster's team
Monica Rambeau - From Captain Marvel, she was a kid in the film, known as "Captain Trouble", now she's grown. Her mother was in Captain Marvel as Carol's best friend, now she apparently died of cancer during the blip.

Beyond that, if you watch Avengers: Age of Ultron, Infinity War, and Endgame, and possibly Captain America Civil War, you're good.
I am following the timeline and Disney plus. Finished Iron Man 2 on Monday. Thor is next. Probably will watch Friday. I really like them all so far.

I have a bit of a conundrum. Nothing important. Disney problem. So you know how my youngest is going to Disney in May to compete the weekend of the 15th. Her athlete package includes a 2 day hopper. They are not offering the parents the same pass. They are only offering 3 or more days which really is wrong. This then requires paying for more days on the kids’ tickets. Now I do not even know when they will compete. Currently it is a Thursday, but if they advance they will also compete Saturday. They will throw in a extra practice down there as well. We are not making a vacation out of it since the rest of the family is not going. I may take my 13 year old, but that is up in the air. I am not sure if I should buy a ticket because I don’t know if there will be time to actually enjoy anything in a park without feeling rushed. Now if they do not advance then there will be Friday and Saturday to enjoy parks. While this will be great, I really want them to advance cause then what is the point of going? And if I don’t buy a pass ahead of time I don’t know if days I want to go will be available cause of the current reservation system. I really don’t know what to do.
