We ended up getting about an inch overnight. Right now 11am the temperature is only up to 38F. It was a sticky, heavy snow that settled on all the branches of the trees which I'm sure would make @MinnieM123 almost giddy. I ended up being OK with it, because it afforded me the chance to do some grocery shopping with almost no one in the store this morning. I also was able to think that the stuff on the trees was (kinda) pretty, but I'm sure only because I know that by 2pm it will all be gone. The sun is currently shining bright and I can hear the water dripping off the roof.

That was us this morning, too. All the snow is already gone from the trees at this point, though. It was very pretty...but yucky cold.

When I first moved to NC, I had an apartment that also gave me a garage for my car. Since I moved to my new place (no garage) the end of March last year, today is the first time I used my snow brush and scrapper in almost 10 years. It didn't give me the impression that it was really enjoying the snow removal experience. Nor was I.

I live in the same state as Minnie...my extendable-to-6' snow brush is my bestie in the winter. I wouldn't be able to reach the roof of my truck without it.

You should do like every one else in that area and that is just clear a 12"X12" square on your windshield and rear window and let the snow fly off onto any traffic that is behind you. That's how one makes friends up there. The same thing used to happen in Vermont. The sad thing is that we knew better then to do that, at least down here no one automatically thinks the the snow blowing off might be a bad thing.

MA actually passed a law against doing that...thank goodness!

It is for everything but milk;) Dh likes their free shipping:cautious: I hate to say it but Walmart's shipping has been excellent:eek: They have a hair care line that's allergen safe/CF/vegan etc that I like so I've been ordering that and odds and ends from them and the quinoa brown rice pasta the boys like. One bag came broken and the replacement came the next day:joyfull: My basic sewing supplies like thread, needles and such are still contactless from my local place:joyfull:
There are so many things my Target won't bring to the car, it drives me kinda nutty. Can curbside ground beef, not hot dogs. Can curbside milk, not creamer. Can curbside smaller bottles of Pantene, but not the medium size ones. Bananas, not tomatoes. Only smaller packs of TP or paper towels. Sometimes Kleenex, sometimes not. So, when I do curbside, I still have to run in first.

So, yesterday, I thought I would pick up at Mariano's (Kroger). I spent 30 minutes putting the list together. They wanted to charge me $4.95. To drive there myself, and pick up the groceries. My order was over $100 easy, by the way. Ended up going, because, unless the money was going directly to the employee, just no way. Today, DD is having a banana emergency. She needs them for the smoothie she makes herself every morning. $35 order, and Amazon does not up charge me to bring it to my front door. I think between being able to curbside Target, and get the remainder brought to my door, it will be awhile before I go into a store.

I've been wearing hubby down for a move to a warmer climate for a while now...we're getting close. I think he only wants to stay here because his mom is here...even though he's not a fan of hers.
We have our share of warm here in the mtns of NC. But, we do have four seasons here. The winters are getting milder though the past two years. I love warmer weather!

So E is in her 3rd year of high school, which is halfway through, so she has to decide on what direction she wants to take next year. They have to choose one of 4 profiles. There's a culture/creative profile, an Economics and social studies profile, a science that's more on the biology side, and a science that's more on the technology side. Last night was the information meeting for the parents about what each of the profiles are and how to go about choosing. The profile you choose will determine what careers you can study later. Up to this year, everything has been general...they have to take everything. E has something like 15 subjects this year. Next year, it becomes more directed at your future career. So the...I guess guidance counselor is the closest I can come to an equivalent, but that's not really accurate...anyway, he started off by saying the profile choice is kind of like looking at what you want to make for dinner. You can approach it from "This sounds good tonight!" or "What can I make with what's in my fridge?" and he said "For the profile choice, boys might want to be pilots, and girls want to be princesses." REALLY??? You think 15 year old girls in the advanced placement program want to be princesses? My fierce "little princess" wants to do the science and technology profile with Biology, computer programming, and design technology as her electives. Her female friends want to be: an architect, a police agent, and a forensic investigator. And why bring up gender at all? Why not just say "Being a pilot sounds fun! or I want to save lives, so I'd like to be a doctor!"? Why make a distinction between what the boys and girls are interested in? It was just so out of touch and insulting. They have any career to chose from and his go to is "princess"??
I am sorry. Our gifted program speaker said reading girls and math boys. Girls are not good in math They’d rather just read. I had so much to say the next day.

Sadly there are male educators still out there that would never support a undergrad degree for even their own daughters. It is better than when I was in school but a long way to go. Boys shop And drawing, Girls Cooking and sewing. It is difficult to shake the stupid out of some. I’m glad E had a good role model like you, what you went through to earn your BA and became an educator. E learned by example. Good Mom Be proud.

What people didn't realize was that eventually, huge chunks of snow and/or ice would melt/loosen off their car's roof and smash into the car behind them, causing some bad accidents and injuries. :(

Here's a section of the MA law --

In Massachusetts, police can use a couple of statutes to enforce snow-clearing. ... officers can issue a $40 fine for impeded operation if a driver has obstructed windows.

And a $200 fine for driving with an unsecured load, which can include heavy sheets of snow or ice on a car's roof.
