Before I was married my apartment had laundry but only one washer and one dryer. Coin operated and down three flights . I usually lugged my laundry to the laundromat a couple minutes away, it was easier to take it there and be done in about an hour using multiple machines than spend a lot of the using the one machine. Or I went for a visit to my parents with my laundry! 🙂

Yep, the first apartment I lived in near the UT campus, our laundry was coin and down in the “basement”...2 washers and 2 dryers, so not too bad, as there were only about 25 units, but, I did take a lot of laundry back to my folks place to do it there...and, yes, I did my own laundry...!!!!!:hilarious:

We had the cutest little trick or treaters tonight!! Halloween isn't really a thing here, but it's been catching on for the last couple of years. There was a group of ten little kids (I think the oldest was probably only 4 or 5) with their parents. All of the kids were dressed up as zombies and ghosts and spooky/creepy things. I had made up 10 candy bags just in case we got any kids here, even though I wasn't sure how many parents would let their kids come out in a pandemic and there usually aren't more than a handful anyway, if any. We could hear them coming, so my husband went and checked and we made up a couple of extra bags, just in case. So they get to the door, and we open and I tell them all how scary they look! And one of them says "That's because it's Halloween!!" And I said "It IS?? And what's Halloween, then?" And one says "TODAY!!!!" :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: E said she heard one of the others say "That means we get candy!" They were just so sweet and funny. Very polite, and they all said thank you and there was no pushing or shoving or anything. They were adorable. I've really missed trick-or-treaters!! Every year I'd buy candy, and every year there would be no trick-or-treaters. Last year we had maybe 8 in total. Maybe someday it will be common here.

We've had trunk or treat here for years but this year the kids get the candy put in their trunk at a couple of spots. Parents can submit pics of their kids in costumes to get published in the local paper. Different for sure

Chicken recipe please, thnx
Morrocan Chicken with Orange Couscous

Ingredients for Chicken
-6 servings (but I usually end up with only 4)

2 medium carrots, cut cross-wise into 1/2 in pieces
1 medium Vidalia onion, thinly sliced
1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken , cut into 1-2 inch cubes
1/3 cup dried plums, coarsely chopped (optional)
1/3 cup dried apricots, cut into small chunks
1/3 cup golden raisins
1/3 cup white balsamic or white vinegar
2 T all-purpose flour
1 cup dry white wine or water
3 Tablespoons firmly packed light brown sugar
3 medium garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
1 15.5 ounce no salt added cannelloni beans, white kidney beans, or chickpeas, rinsed and drained

Couscous
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup couscous

Lightly spray a slow cooker or instant pot with cooking spray. Put carrots and onion in bottom of cooker. Layer the chicken cubes
over the vegetables. Top with all the dried fruit. Do not stir.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the vinegar and flour until smooth, add the wine or water slowly. Whisk in remainder of ingredients
under Chicken except for the beans. Pour over the chicken mixture in the pot. Do not stir. Cook, covered for 5 1/2 - 6 1/2 hours on high or 2 1/2 - 3 hours on low. Add the drained beans for 5 - 10 mts until heated through. Meanwhile, make couscous. Heat water and oj in
a small pot until boiling. Add couscous. Stir and set aside for 5 mts. Fluff with fork. Put couscous in plates and ladle chicken over top.
Serve with pita bread and salad. Enjoy!

Kids go from car to car instead of house to house. They're usually held in parking lots in more rural areas where house to house can be difficult or dangerous
That's kinda neat. Cars can get decked out in Halloween attire to make it all festive. We don't have that in our neighborhood but there is an odd neighbor I have. He's got a tombstone set up in the front yard and he dressed up as Leatherface and plays with his real live chainsaw in his front yard. The neighborhood kids are actually scared of him.

We've got a house like that in the town next door to ours.

Some of the cars look like the Osborne lights them up on them. This year is way different it was held during the day and the kids were driven to several contactless spots to get candy. There are several virtual parties going on now..
