The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

I feel like I've been seeing more way more Disney commercials lately to get people to go.
I wonder if I’m the only one who finds it ironic that the theme song used in the commercials, I’ve seen anyway, is “Heigh-Ho”...?! :cyclops:🤔
One of the verses is “Heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it’s home from work we go”.
“Work” pretty much seems to sum up a Disney “vacation” since even way before the damn-demic...!!!!! :hilarious::D:hilarious:;)

I dunno...our family has never had a tradition like that until my first son was born. We gave him my dad's middle name as his middle name.
On my dad's side it's Frederick...on my mom's side it's Mildred. And not like two or three times either. Like, generations.

Apparently on my dad's side we're original New York Dutch. I can't wait to tell him we're Yankees...

Um this is a stupid question. I just joined and I got a message with something about a thread where I could introduce myself. I deleted the message by accident and then I went to the new post and this was the top on it it so I thought I'd ask for help here. Where can I find the introduction thread? Thanks in advance. I love long-standing traditions! I'm not sure why my family is so flakey about them.

That is too funny!
Some traditions need to die.

My brother and I have the same middle name, which is also my mom's middle name, and also my dad's nickname. It was just a coincidence when they married...and I got made fun of for said middle name.

That tradition will die. 😂

It's so funny because you go through my mom's history, and it's like "Born in: Maryland, died in Maryland, born in Maryland, died in Maryland" and I'm like, boy, these people never moved. And then on my dad's side, it's like, well, North Carolina, Kansas, Iowa, New York, Mississippi...I've started finding some non-Marylanders on my mom's tree, but there's like two straight lines from my great grandmother of just nothing but Marylanders.

Not stupid at all!

If you click this link: https://forums.wdwmagic.com/forums/new-member-introductions.103/ You'll see a button that says "Post Thread", and you can create a new thread to introduce yourself. :)

(I was totally naughty and skipped my intro...I just jumped right in and started commenting.)

I was 17 when I joined...please no one find anything I wrote back then. I shouldn't have been allowed to speak. Every now and then I get a random like from a post from like 2013 and I'm like, omg...why??? 😂

I wonder if any of his aunts are alive. They used to always insist that we aren't German; we're English.

I'd love to tell them we're definitely German. 😂
Hubby's family is German and Swedish...the German side is from upstate NY. My family is French-Canadian...settled in the US in NH and MA and spread out from there.

If I have to hear the stupid Swedish song they sing on birthdays one more time...

I need that feature. Stuff pops up from when I first got FB, around the same time, and I just cringe. Like, ignore me, I don't know what I was thinking back then, but clearly something wasn't working.
I'll have to look, but I think it's under privacy settings that you can tell it to make all old posts private.

ETA: If you go to Settings, then click Privacy on the left...it's in the second section from the top. "Limit past posts".

I've apparently got a crazy family history.

My mom's family at least partially came to Virginia in like 1632 and then went to Maryland, and then they never left.
My dad's family came at all different times, some to New York, some to Pennsylvania...and I'm not through with his side yet.
I have English, Scottish, Irish, Dutch, German, Eastern European Jew (we have no idea how...maybe I'll finally figure it out?), French, Native American, and African in me. At least.
I've found two ancestors who served in the war of 1812 - one died in a pointless battle.

It's addictive. Like, keep going, who else will you find...

ETA - found several Revolutionary War members. Okay then...
