He's a funny little man! I've since grown it out again, and now I get regular reminders that I need a haircut!I'd have been like, "Really, it's hair, get over it."
Reason 186 why I probably shouldn't be a parent.

Speaking of boys, my disagreeable brother told me last night that he doesn't want to go to Hersheypark this weekend. I told him that's fine...where do you want to go instead? He wanted to just stay home. I told him nope, you do that every day, we're leaving the house on Saturday (my parents fully back me with this because otherwise he starts climbing the walls). I told him we could go bike riding, we could go for a hike, but we weren't staying home all day on Saturday.
Today he tells me he wants to go to Hersheypark.

Yeah.
And I mean, to be fair, we go to Hersheypark a lot. But we're pretty much not going after this month unless we get a warm November day since the rollercoasters pretty much go down after October aside from a few, so we probably won't go again until April. But if he had said he wanted to do something else, I would have been on board. But nope.
When we were in lockdown I actually started finding legal ways of getting him out of the house. Like, we took food to our grandfather and then took the scenic route home, I did a drive up Target order at a Target 30 minutes away, and then once outdoor exercise was allowed on trails, we started going to a nearby trail. We learned the hard way that this kid goes stir crazy and makes everyone around him miserable. Since he's still in virtual school, my parents and I make him leave the house on weekends (usually it's me taking him). I don't know where he got the idea that he could stay home, but that wasn't happening.

I totally get it. My youngest gets antsy and starts circling the center of the house (It's basically a box with a staircase in the middle that you can literally walk a circle around) around 7pm every night...and that's WITH school in person every day. We were all starting to get more than a little stir-crazy during the lock-down. Bedtime was a nightmare because it was basically guaranteed that no matter what we did to prepare, both boys would work each other up into a tizzy. It's been three weeks since school started back up...and we're still working towards getting things back to normal, but we have seen marked improvement already.

That's what B would do. He'd pace the house. Back and forth and back and forth...oh and the resistance to leaving it! When we first did it, I gave him like 15 minutes warning. "By the way, we're going for a drive in 15 minutes" "I don't wanna" "Too bad, you're going".
My mom tried to get him to go with her on a walk on the trail on Wednesday since he typically doesn't have classes. He said no. I'm like, Mom, you did that wrong. She said something the night before and he decided he didn't want to. I'm like, tell him about an hour before that you're going and don't give him the option. He'll whine but he'll go along with it.

YES! Most of the time, our boys love going out...but if it's something they might be suspicious of or flat-out not want to do, we don't give warnings until just before...and there is no option about it.
ETA: And if it's something they'll LOVE doing, we don't give warnings, either, because then it's "is it time yet?!?" to infinity until it's actually time to leave.

YES! We once surprised them with a Disney trip by telling them we had a funeral for an old family friend we had to go to that just happened to be in Florida...because they're that familiar with why we go to Logan airport and MCO. There was no funeral, lol.So the key word here is secrecy. A very wise and necessary parenting procedure.

Hi everyone. Hope you are all safe and well during these crazy times.
I've been reminded that there are a lot of cat people down here and I have a question. Our cat (who is over 15 years old) is suddenly growing a little beige colored teardrop shaped thing on his face - see below picture.
He doesn't seem to be bothered by it at all, but has anyone else seen this type of thing before? Trying to figure out if it's time for a vet visit.

Keep in mind that I'm not a vet, but it looks like a pimple. I'll occasionally notice them underneath Belle's fur when I'm petting her. Just keep an eye on it, make sure it doesn't look swollen or infected. If it's not bothering him, it's probably nothing to worry about.

I can't speak for a cat, but when I get those they are called skin tags. But, if you are in doubt see a vet.

Could be it too, although cats can develop acne at any age and tend to get then on the face. Especially if maybe the cat doesn't groom as well, then it could be the culprit. It could also be a skin tag.
That being said, if it's not infected, not bothering the cat, not getting bigger, etc, then leaving it be is probably best.

Sure, but the cat will never get a date if it has skin tags. Cat's is fussy like that!
