All commercial ones are unless they are labeled otherwise and even then check the label;)

But why do the commercial ones use so much sodium? If people like you can make multiple bottles of pickles without dousing them in salt, why can't the commercial companies do that too? (I just wasn't sure if the putting up process required so much salt, to preserve the pickles?)

It can be done lower salt but I've yet to find a totally salt free recipe as for the commercial ones, salt is cheap and produces a flavor people are used to

I'm kinda regretting going to Disney now lol.

I mean, summing the huge increase of visitors, the cut down entertainment, the predicts gigantic lay-offs, the ridiculous return of executive bonuses right after the gigantic lay-offs...

I would say manage expectations and think positively about what you will be able to experience. We always plan like we are going when it is super crowded, then if we get lower crowds we can pleasantly readjust. When we went in August we still had a blast despite some things being closed and wearing a mask in the horrible heat/humidity. November will be special because of the holiday decor. However, if you feel it isn't worth it for you and can get your money back then you might want to do that, ultimately you have to do what is best for you.

Salt for flavor and to cure it. I don't use a lot in the pickles I make for Brad. A lot of pickle recipes have a lot of sugar in the ingredient list too. I leave out the sugar or barely put any in. I haven't looked at a commercial pickle label to see what the sugar content is but I suspect some is used.

It depends on the variety and brand it can go from 0 added sugar to you may as well be eating a large candy bar

I just looked up the brand that hubs likes and it has 6g of carbs, not too bad I suppose. But when I decided to make pickles for him I was shocked at how much sugar my Aunt's/Mom's recipe called for. I looked up other ones on the internet too and a lot had sugar galore! I don't like pickles but I had seen them as a healthy treat, but yeah not with all that sugar. Like you said for some it is like eating a candy bar! So I tried making them with barely any sugar to no sugar (a pinch of it) and hubs liked it so, no sugar it is for the ones I make.

if I remember correctly, most of the decor will be cutdown as well.

Oh my goodness -- TWO years old already?! She's practically a senior citizen. :jawdrop: Oh wait ... :p

Your entire family must be thrilled. So nice to see happy occasions during this hideous year, as they cheer up everyone -- even those who aren't members of your family! :inlove:

Thank you so very much, Minnie, and we are all thrilled, as our lil’ Emmy brings so much joy to us all and we love her sooooo very much..!!!!! :inlove::happy:
Definitely crazy times, but, we really try hard to find the good and celebrate it, and if it helps to bring a little joy to others, then that’s even better...!!!!!

If you're not canning them you can easily sub in stevia or monkfruit
