This was my face for 3 months, still is many times.. as there’s still a lot of people working from home.

I know it’s tough for them too, don’t get me wrong.. but I had to stay off FB for a little while for my own mental health.

Yea, we’re still back at the office, but, also still practicing stringent protocols...temp checks and an online health survey we hafta’ fill out every mornin’, masks, traffic patterns, etc., etc., etc.
The title company DWifey works for is considered essential, and our firm is considered “construction essential”. DWifey has a letter in her purse stating such in the event there’s another lockdown (in case she were to get pulled over by the authorities). I’m sure our firm will do same if it comes to that again.
I forgot to post about it, but last night we stopped regular work at 5:15 so we could get all our stuff off the floors and all surfaces and stored in our closed cabinets. The firm hired a company to do a deep cleaning of our entire office last night, and we had to be out before 6.
There was some slight, harmless residue from the cleaning on our keyboards, monitors, edge surfaces, etc., but, they wiped down everything else, so no biggie.
Hopefully, it won’t need to be done again for a while.

Yet another reason I’ve never had, and probably never will have, an FB account.

On my way to work (first location) I got a text from my cousin Maria asking if I wanted to FaceTime. So for just about a minute, I was able to see Grandma. I even took a screenshot. My mother and brother were in the background trying to get into the shot where I could see them, and I was just ignoring them and trying not to even look. My mother was saying something like, "I had to include you" or some lame garbage. Too little, too late, too often.

I texted a bit with Maria and found out my flowers were not there. Called the place, and apparently the chosen vendor canceled the order because they didn't have the specific arrangement I ordered.

F.U.R.I.O.U.S.

That poor woman on the phone heard more bad words than you can think of. I'm not there, my flowers aren't there, my card isn't there.

How the heck didn't they just call me and say, "pick a different arrangement?" You have one job! It's for a wake, my God!

They wanted to deliver it to someone's house afterwards. Umm...no. I got a refund, but that's the last thing I wanted. I wanted them to bring some freaking flowers to the service before it was over. By this time, it was 20 minutes to over. So, so mad.

Then my cousin Kathy messaged me. She was on her way to the cemetery. (So I had some concept of what was going on and when.) This is the cousin about whose kid my brother was so "concerned." The first thing she said was, "I wish you could have come."

The three of us were "the kids" back in the 70's. Kathy and I especially were always together. We are the same age for the month of July, and then I pull ahead in August. Here's a pic, I had to be about 4 or 5? I just graduated from either what they called "Library School" or Kindergarten. Can't remember right now. Some of my best memories are the two of us playing at Grandma's. Here are Grandma, Kathy, and myself.

I had no contact with my mother, brother, or sister. So Kathy and Maria made this a little less awful for me.

Good grief. What next?! You've had more than your share of bad news, and the mess-up from the flower shop is the straw that broke the camel's back here. What competent florist would NOT call and offer a substitute arrangement, to go to the funeral home ON TIME?!! :banghead: Flowers are given for emotional reasons (funerals, weddings, birthdays, mother's day, etc., etc.). Florists are well aware of this main selling point, and there is NO excuse for what happened. They failed, and I'm stunned that they so easily cancelled out the order. So sorry that you had to deal with their incompetence, at a time when you were least able (emotionally exhausted) to handle it. :(

Relieved to hear that two of your cousins were in contact with you, and that at least, you were able to FaceTime the funeral home.

Thank you for sharing the sweet photo from your childhood, with us.

O.k. Lame discussion of the morning here. I know a few of you watch Dancing with the Stars. What do you think about them unceremoniously firing Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews as hosts? From numerous reports I've seen and read, both were completely blind-sided by this decision. I really liked them both, and thought they did a great job with that show. I know that Tom was on for at least 15 years (not sure how many years for Erin). (Side note: Tom is also from the Boston market -- used to be a newsman here, so I've always been happy for his fame.)

As for the new (one person only) host, I don't know much about her (Tyra Banks), other than she was a successful supermodel and had a TV show as well.

Maybe hiring Tyra who is black and trying to get more blacks to watch the ABC show? I read that Bob Iger wanted to get more people of color more involved and hired into TWDC.

Haven't a clue what is behind all this, so your guess is as good as mine.

My main issue with a decision to change the hosts is HOW it was done. (It's not who the replacement is, even if the new host does a great job.) The new host is not an issue. The management of the show is the issue.

My goodness you look like your Grandma!
You know, I’ve never heard that in my entire life, until I posted that picture here and somewhere else yesterday. Several people said it. I guess I do!

You had to ask.

For the two measley hours I was scheduled at the second store, I got a call from Brian saying he was going to the e/r. (He’s been taking his dad to the hospital and doctors almost every day lately - which is a high risk ting to do - but his dad is not doing well.

Then he said he just dropped his dad off. What? He was going to the e/r himself. He was scared and had a pain in his side since the night before that had gotten worse, and he got sick while out with his dad.

I could not leave my store. I could not even stay on the phone because I had a customer trying to sell me a collection who had already heard me cursing out the florist when he walked in lol. I could not have gone to the hospital, anyway, they make you wait outside because of Covid-19.

Yesterday from 10am to 1pm was nuts!

Turned out to be my old nemesis: kidney stones, both kidneys.

But he couldn’t keep anything down last night. I got his prescriptions, keeping an eye on him. The more he sleeps, the better.

And I have an appointment with a therapist at 10am!

Side note: they gave him a COVID test and it was negative.

That’s brutal. I haven’t watched it in the past few years, but I think Tom did a great job.

Tyra Banks is funny and sassy, and I’m sure will do well with the position, though I do wonder why this sudden change. I’m sure they’ll get a lot of headlines from it.. probably hope to get an uptick in viewers as a result.

I used to be an avid watcher of the show but then it was too repetitive to me. But occasionally I would still watch on their Disney nights. I did think that Tom Bergeron was a good host and I liked his sense of humor, it was a little dry and ironic. I have no opinion about Erin Andrews, I haven't seen her host enough to form one. From the stories I have seen it does seem like the hosts didn't know it was coming but I did see a retweet of Tom's about the change and if he was blindsided (which the tweet kind of alludes to) it was still classy and didn't seem to be angry. I liked how he questioned at the end of the tweet what he was going to do with all his glitter masks!

As for Tyra Banks hosting, I haven’t seen enough of her hosting or on tv to form an opinion. I’m sure she will do fine. I wonder though if the ratings were going down and they just thought a new host would bring in viewers.

I hope Brian feels better today. At least the COVID test was negative so that’s good. Hope the therapist goes well.

I don’t like when things get announced or leaked without telling the people that are getting replaced first. Doesn’t seem professional to me.

Ov vey. Some people really need to get a reality check. Entitled people I work with.

I'm in an email fight (not really but it adds dramatics) with someone because he thinks someone's email address I gave him doesn't work even though I email her everyday. :banghead: The only reason why he thinks that is she is not working til next week and has an end of day. He just wants his problem to be the top priority.

The like is for the picture. You were so cute and your grandmother was beautiful. She looks like she could have been your mom.

That totally sucks. Best of luck to Tyra but she has large shoes to fill.
