Well, that's obnoxious. Intermittent fireworks here from 9 - maybe 11:00. Gave dog his (vet prescribed) meds to calm him down. At least with the air conditioner on in the bedroom, it drowned out some of the noise.

But on a happier note, Figgy, did the boys see Joey Chestnut win the Nathan's Coney Island hot dog eating contest again??!! :joyfull: (I think it was carried via ESPN on Saturday. Due to covid restrictions, no large crowds allowed.)

Below text from CNN:

Joey Chestnut gobbled down 75 weiners and buns in 10 minutes to win his 13th title. Somewhere around the 8-minute mark, Chestnut made history by eating his 1,000th career dog. :p
Those professional eaters in those eating contests are something else. A report even talks about the men and women going out to the gym to work out many muscles in their body including their neck muscles to help them improve in the eating competitions. The girls that win the female division are petite and very talented.

75 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. How on earth he does it is beyond me after 3 hot dogs I'm stuffed

Don't know how you two managed the heat. :jawdrop: But, very happy that you and T had a fun day together. You always seem to find fun activities that you can both enjoy.

I read your post ahead and saw the photos of the "live" fireworks. That was a great way to end your day as well.

Meanwhile back here, I watched on TV last night some shows about the 4th including the Capitol 4th (PBS); Macy's 4th of July show; a local show here with an orchestra; and, a variety show of entertainers and Wash.DC fireworks on CNN. I kept flipping channels so I could cherry pick the performances, etc. The only thing is that it's never quite the same watching fireworks on a TV screen, versus "live" outdoor events.
Glad you could get on the coasters you wanted to ride and you got to enjoy fireworks. I watched the fireworks from DC on tv last night. My 2 younger kids were running around the outside of our house watching fireworks that people were shooting off.

Thanks. We did have a good time. Different experience, but worth it. I felt bad for KI. Even though the lines were relatively long for most of the rides, it wasn’t crowded at all. Plus, Soak City (the water park) remains closed indefinitely. The lines are long at KI because every other seat is closed off, parties stand 6ft apart in lines, and only two trains running per ride. They have to be losing so much money daily. The 4th is a huge day for them, every other year is packed for their firework display.
They did live stream the event so people could watch at home.

There were soooooo many fireworks going off all around yesterday, at people’s homes. It was like driving through fog on the way home, lit by fireworks continuously. T was complaining about the pollution and the “burnt chicken nugget” smell. He worried that it’s going to hurt animals, and the President or Governor should order a black out for every night at 10pm..going on a tangent about air pollution in general. I told him be careful what he wishes for, and just try to do our part.

It literally felt like Beirut here last night... my house, yard and car are full of debris, and we didn't do any fireworks. I was outside at one point and the neighbor across the street did a big fountain that reign debris and hit me right in the eye... it was in the corner, and no damage done thank goodness... but I had to be a meanie and tell him he needed to push it back to his yard, and not in the middle of the street.
{{HUGS}} I hope you're 100% better now but if not document it and get pictures you may need them later.

@figmentfan423 I hope your ankle feels better. I think once the grocery shopping is done you should elevate and ice it for the rest of the day with a few mojitos. Have your husband grill some meals for all of you.

@Rista1313 I hope your eye is okay, I know you said there wasn't damage but still that can be scary.
Thank you. As soon as everything was sorted out and I got the boys lunch together I put my leg up and passed out for an hour and that was after 2 cups of wake the dead coffee:eek::eek: My dh went straight to bed as soon as we got home because he has to work tonight. Tonight's dinner is going to be a veggie curry and maybe a cider:hungry: James is doing the chopping if he wants to eat:D

Oh 2 more.. for anyone who has been to Kings Island.. I think @ajrwdwgirl you said you’ve been?

It is really weird seeing the empty space where Vortex was. The landscape is completely changed when viewing the park from many different viewing spots, but especially on that walkway.

T had hoped we were getting a dive coaster, but now says “We’re probably not getting any new rides for a long time, because they’re losing money. I hope they don’t remove anything else.”

We have quite a few places to buy fireworks here. Drove by one today. The lot was packed and people were waiting outside to get in. We considered getting some but it is very dry here and didn’t want to risk causing a fire.

Yep, tons of places here too...outside the city limits.
Haven’t had any rain in the last several days, but, we’ve had plenty over the last few weeks, making for some high humidity, but, everything is nice and green...!!! :)

That was scary how close your eye came to being injured. You were not a meanie for telling him to push back his fireworks -- he was damn lucky you were not injured.

I am glad that you are o.k.
