It is great to hear these stories. It does seem that the counselors want me to pick a career or at least narrow it down to like 3 options and go with those. Why does it have to be a certain number? This was also told to me while I was in the 10th grade. I am going into the 11th grade this year. It just seems crazy to me. I will come up with something when I have to and I will go to a college that I want to go to. Those two things I do know.
I can not answer that, but that might be an era or generation thing. I am giving you what happened to my mom and myself.

My mom automatically told secretary instead of cutting hair by a counselor. My mom wanted to work the haircut industry growing up, but my mom was considered the best typist at her school. She listen to her counselor.

My mom on a typewriter was able to type 90 words per minute without making a single mistake. She won a lot of typing awards. My mom came from an era that computers were huge monsters and were too big to put in a home. Computers were not used in schools or offices. The typing skills my mom had in that era were for people that type on a typewriter.

In my own era, the person who scheduled my classes had me take a unique class from the time I was sophomore to the time I was a Senior. I took a computer programming class, a drafting class, and an accounting class. The thing with me was teachers knew about my math skills and knew I was a natural in history. The person who did my scheduling decided I needed classes related to math that can lead be led to job positions requiring math skills.

As far as Computer programming class, it was a different animal at the time than now. I went to high school back in the 1990s. The computer that the students programmed on was even dated by 1990s standards. The monitors were dated also. You are dealing with a computer with 5.25 floppy disks. The monitors only showed green text and green graphics.

Wow, that is different from today. I pick my own schedule. Well for the most part. There are the core course that are assigned each year and my Freshman year I get less electives to choose than I did for this year my Junior year. The same will be for my Senior year I will get even more flexibility with my schedule. In the 10th grade we only met the counselor a few times to discuss our futures. It would have been more if the 2nd half of the year wouldn't have been shut down and we did online school. This year my Junior year I will definitely meet with the counselor to talk about my career goals and colleges a lot more.

Nice. The computer set up is like WOW!!!! and I see you have Anna, Elsa, Olaf and Sven as visitors. :)
That's my work setup. Two monitors, mouse & keyboard and a dock. I got it because I knew I'd be working from home every now and then. Didn't think I'd be working from home for months because of a pandemic. Anyway.

Yep, Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Sven are there guarding my books. You can't see him in that photo, but Groot is also there guarding some books.

That is chilly willy. :)
Not in Wisconsin. Out of anything, you would consider it strange that the Wisconsin Dells is known as the Water Park Capital of the world considering Wisconsin has 4 seasons and can be very cold. Wisconsin usually is capable getting below zero temperatures at least once every winter.

You would also call some people in my state crazy on January 1st every year. Some areas in Wisconsin on New Years Day have a Polar bear plunge. A polar bear plunge is doing stuff like going on a beach and go into the water when it is anywhere from being even below zero to 35 degrees outside.

Wisconsin for the most of the year is colder than your state. I am from the south Eastern part of Wisconsin. The further north you go, the colder it can be.

Wisconsin usually is not the 90s in this part of June. The city I live in has an average of 70 degrees or more 4 months of the year with them being from June to September.

It gets in the 70’s here in the Winter. 😄 I think I would freeze in below freezing weather. I think it is cold if it is 50 degrees.

@MySmallWorldof4 July 3 for Hershey Park!!!!
They want everyone to wear masks even on most rides. Sorry, cannot do it. I am stubborn like that. I will wait till they loosen regulations. What doesn’t make sense is the Boardwalk will be open but you cannot wear masks on water slides. They won’t have to worry about capacity because there are many like me that will refuse to go due to their new regulations.

And see, that's the only reason I'm okay with going. My gym is actually reopening, and I had them put my membership on hold because people won't be wearing masks. But I'm okay being someplace outdoors if I have to wear a mask. Down here the rule has basically been no mask, no service, so other than when I go to the trail, I wear a mask. I'm used to it. If it means I can go have fun, I don't care.

We have reservations on July 3. Not planning on the Boardwalk for that day. Not sure what we will do about the masks if we do the Boardwalk. Might just take our phone pouches and stuff them in there.

For chit chatters (including those have already expressed interest) in any (possible) changes in Splash Mountain -- just an fyi to let you know that there are currently two (ongoing) dedicated, discussion threads about this.

(I'm not going to express any of my opinions here. I'm just sharing that there are two threads as an fyi only.)
