One of my first Pups was a Shepard, my first born. I gave my then fiance an Atari game system, state of the art at the time. Shepard Laying under coffee table and he was playing a game (of course not paying attention to the puppy) and she chewed through the cord and when she electrocuted herself her head banged on the coffee table from beneath. GAME OVER.

Am I reading this right....was it game over for the Atari or game over for the dog?

That is so nice. I had that with my Shepard and she would always stay with my inlaws. When I had my goldens most of their lives I kenneled them at a high end kennel. They would pull me into the place when we got there so they were on their own little vacation and had each other. In their end years I had a neighbor girl (and sometimes her dad) come and watch them and turtle for up to two weeks. I paid the girl well and still came out way ahead of my kennel retreat costs. Walter has never been kenneled or left alone. I don't know what I'd do with him. Likely hire a pet sitter if it came to that but I have lots of neighbors that adore him so he'd likely be well taken care of if it came to that.

When hubby and I got our first dog together we did have to kennel him a couple times because it didn't work with my sister's schedule to take him. He got the high end kennel. He had a "suite" with a tv (it was often on Sesame Street for him for some reason) and superman decorations on wood paneled rooms. He didn't mind staying there at all, he was eager to go in. The vet's office was a different story....

We've never kenneled Jack, either. I read once that it's good to get dogs used to a kennel at a young age (even just an overnight, 1-2 times a year, for example), so that they don't freak out as older dogs, if they need to be kenneled, (if you have to go away on vacation or for an emergency situation). Guess I blew that with Jack, but I didn't read the article until he was about 5 years old. He's only been with us, once we adopted him from the animal shelter.

On an unrelated matter about dogs, I saw on the news this morning that there is a dog flu strain out there in Illinois, and a few neighboring states, so be careful with Walt being around unfamiliar dogs. Some dogs have become very ill with this flu, and I guess that whatever canine flu vaccines are available, are not effective for this particular strain out in your area.

I am a little worried about this dog flu, there are some cases in Minnesota which isn't that far from my part of Wisconsin. I don't want my little pups to catch it. But then again they come into contact with many other dogs.

Ha! Life in the United States..........:joyfull:

Woman was removed from an airplane at Chicago Midway Airport after she poked a seatmate with a pen to stop him from snoring Thursday afternoon, according to an airline spokeswoman. No injuries were reported.

The flight left soon after the passenger was removed and woman “will be accommodated on a later flight,” according to the statement. :cyclops:

My dad's the same way. Refuses to take a cruise. Have to do that at some point in my life

My husband refused to take a cruise, he was worried about getting sick from unclean surfaces, falling overboard, and his motion sickness. Then I made him watch the Disney Cruise line special because I had been dying to take a cruise since I was like 5 years old watch the Love Boat on tv. Once he watched it the show he said that if he ever took a cruise it would be Disney. I saw that as an opening so I asked him if he might want to take a cruise. He just said only if it is Disney, so 2 days later I booked a Disney cruise. He went, loved it, and can't wait to take another cruise which will maybe be next January.

I really like the Biergarten. I like going for dinner because I like the sauerbraten (beef roast) that is only served at dinner. But I don't like their desserts at all, but that is okay because I fill up on the sauerbraten, cheesy spatzel, and beer. The best part of the Biergarten is the band. We made the mistake once of booking lunch super early only to find out that the band didn't start until after 1-1:30. We made that a super long lunch because I wanted to see the band! I guess that is my German heritage. I also love the Prime Time too.

It's not quite like it used to be food-wise, but, we did enjoy it on our last trip. :)

I'm trying to figure out how they don't have elevators that would go to the highest deck, down to the bottom. That poor woman had to be carried down 11 flights?

As for your jaunt over to Aruba, that sounded like fun. (I've also been to Aruba and Bonaire in the Dutch Netherlands Antilles. I didn't get to Curacao, but at least you and your daughter got to visit that one as well.) I visited Aruba prior to 2000, so I was able to see the Aruba Natural Bridge; wish it was still intact for your visit. Glad you had such a nice island tour, though. It's an interesting place. (Back when I visited, they also had a number of hotels with casino gambling, too.) Did you also enjoy seeing the colorful buildings on the main streets of Oranjestad? I liked the pink and blue tones--the colors reminded me of houses in Bermuda, actually. :)
Elevators on cruises are TINY.
I'm still pretty sure that every ship as AT LEAST a bigger CARGO type elevator for supplies.

Unfortunately, many bridges/overpasses would have to be widened, as well as the roadbed. And, they can't go to the median, 'cause they've already lengthened and made turn lanes two lanes wide in many places. The only way they could do it would be to somehow widen the bridges and then blast out more of the limestone cliffs that you saw in that pic in many more places. Not gonna' happen anytime soon.

Widening this bridge would be a huge undertaking with all the traffic that uses it every day...

solution.. build a secondary bridge a mile in the side.. split the road in two.
thats how they do when theres mountains and barriers everywhere in my country :p

New Star Wars trailer...YEAHHHHH. Looks better than the the last three already and I'm one of the few that actually don't mind the last couple (the third was blah)

I'm not a big Star Wars fan (I enjoy the movies) but the one released today was good! I actually got a little chill and goosebumps watching it.

Returning to the ship we had to walk through another merchant building. This one reminded me of your local fleamarket selling very overpriced stuff. :greedy: Our total spending was $5. My daughter bought a turtle-shaped magnet that was filled with gold and treasures. ;) I forgot to mention one more thing about the tour. One of the nifty things I learned is about their Divi Divi Tree. They always grow pointing to the southwest due to the winds that are constantly blowing across them. So pretty. :cat:

On the way to our rooms we rode in the glass elevators that face the atrium lobby. We all got on and as the door was closing a hand stopped it. The smoking guy got on and didn't look at any of us but faced the door. Weirdo! After a long day on the road we took a NAP until Thrill Theater and dinner time. It's amazing how sunshine and the gentle motion of the ship can put one to sleep in mere minutes. We got up and noticed we had left port so we decided to take the outer deck for a walk. (Aruba is so close to Venezula we could see it off in the distance.) Surprisingly the T.T. was empty this go around. I figured it was because the show was Planet Earth, an educational offering that may not interest many younger cruisers. We had the theater to ourselves.

Dinner was repeats from past meals but it was soooo yummy! :hungry: We had tempura shrimp, steak with garlic and onions, baked potato, and I had Brownie cake while my daughter got fresh baked chocolate chip cookies again. At each meal they also had a small bread basket with a eight pieces of different varities. (I have a weakness for good bread. ) This evening they had sunflower honey wheat rolls that were delicious! The picture below is basically what our steaks looked like.

Now we had been waiting all cruise for a poolside movie to watch (Captain America:The Winter Soldier played while we were dining) and finally, finally, finally they were showing something we really wanted to see! Guess who? :geek:

I was so happy to see this on the morning schedule! We had seen it in the theater and really enjoyed it but watching it on the outside jumbotron while sailing in the middle of the ocean made it even more awesome. :D At the nightly movies they arrange the deck chairs in a semi circle so people can relax (or fall asleep) while watching the movie. They also have unlimited free popcorn and if you would like you can use your room key to get a blanket at the pool cabana then return it afterwards. We got to the movie with ten minutes to spare and every deck chair had been taken. Others had spread their blankets on the deck like they were at a picnic. :banghead:

Where to sit, where to sit! Being resourceful (and because we really really wanted to see the movie) my friend went to the dining area and dragged four chairs out with her. We then got our free popcorn and blankets. A cool breeze had picked up and put a chill in the air, yes it was still 80* but we had been baking in the sun and anything under 85* was cold! :joyfull: Twenty minutes into the movie one friend decided she would be the hot chocolate gopher, the machine was just a short walk away. I had talked to a fellow guest afterwards and he said he and his wife had been to every movie so far and GOTG had drawn triple the amount of viewers compared to the other movies.

GOTG ended just before midnight so we called it an evening. Not having to get up early (our second sea day) made us all happy and we decided when the last person of our group woke up, we would get motivated to start the day. I'm pretty sure I dreamed of StarLord :inlove: that night.

To BE CONTINUED with Sorry, bad boys and "no, please go without me"

Am I reading this right....was it game over for the Atari or game over for the dog?

She bit through the main power cord for the Atari so the game he was playing was over. She was a Tuffy Dog and her head when she was shocked bounced up the coffee table from underneath, she lived on for another 13 years. She was a handful as a Pup but she really mellowed into a great family dog. When I had kids I worried about her being jealous, instead she took on the role of back up Mom. Where they went she went. At night she use to sleep in our room after kids she slept in the hall at night between three bedroom doors. Still miss her.

Hahaaa...!
Sooo many reasons why that ain't gonna' happen here.
Among them, this stretch of the highway is in far west Austin, which is miles away from any other main highway that would make anything like that feasible. Not gonna' happen. :)

image.jpg Frank Kaminsky was at my school for his jersey retiring today.
Got the pleasure to meet him and take picture with/of him (only putting the one of him cause my selfie with him isn't currently on the device I'm uploading from). He's actually a really great dude. Great to see him succeed
