I hope Kylie will be on the mend in another day or so. Sometimes, dogs get ill and we never have a clue why, but then they usually rally within 1-2 days.

Yep, Ranger was let out into the backyard a few nights ago, and after we closed the door we heard him whimper. We can only assume he bolted after a critter and tripped up.
After a coupla’ days, he seems to be fine...!!! :)

Just catching up now but....

Gov DeWine mentioned a possible "hybrid" look at next school year but nobody knows what that means yet. It's a wait and see game at this point.

I get this. I do. When we worked from home to test the system, we had no idea it would be semi-permanent. We all left stuff at the office and none of us got to say goodbye or give each other hugs (which are now taboo).

But you have got to let this go. You cannot control it. Stressing over things that you cannot control is going to give you a stroke. I've had a stroke and they suck, and I care about you, so I'm telling you, stop stressing over things you cannot control because I don't want you to get a stroke.

I guess what I'm saying is... your feelings are valid. BUT you need to find a way to process them and move on. I hope you have since Monday, I'm still catching up. But you have to process this, leave this, and stop carrying it with you.
Education is full of buzz words of the year. We were able to get them to stop it for the
Most part. An attorney on the board asked teacher presenting what a particular phrase meant and to define it. He could not. From that point forward we’d raise our hands to staff and administrators when we needed an explanation to buzz words so we could understand Word Salad.

I’ve heard hybrids here too. It is the new buZ word. Today’s most districts do not have a new curriculum set for fall yet. Here it is a catch phrase to rewriting the curriculum to start in subjects like math, Language Arts and Reading to teach what they missed the last quarter. Here it is the quarter when the least amount of new material is taught. We will bail on electives, specials like PE and music and social studies and science through 8th grade.

oh my goodness!! A did a wonderful job!! Love it!!!

I can’t allow him to stop the work, they’re still being graded as usual. What teachers have done now (which is a lot better than previously) is to give 2 days of assignments at a time. That way you can complete more if you want to, and will then have a lighter load the next day. This is working a little better for us.
The specials don’t count towards GPA for honors or permanent records.. I tried to keep up with those assignments, but I’m just not going to do it any longer. Especially Art. He can do it if he wants, it’s too time consuming too often. Not worth the stress imo.
Question. Is he in a K-12 school?

@StarWarsGirl this is a Target brand. This my tube lasts about 9 months for me. A dab about the size of a pencil point twice in a day usually erases a blemish in 24 to 36 hours. Tried many over decades it is far and away the best product for occasional blemishes. My DD found it and I was sold. Less than $5. 42AB97A6-688D-46F5-BF33-0FE45224EBD9.jpeg

I asked this for a reason and tailgating @dryerlintfan comments and recommendations to you. You likely don't know me well. I am likely on this thread the most proponent for higher education. My kids before they could clearly see my face as infants they were told they were going to college. I served as an elected local school board member for our elementary school district. Public. It was better than our small demographic than private within a reasonable commute. Me I was a private school gal. It is all demographics in which aff ords a kid the best education and resources. I was Catholic Educated. My kids public. Both grown, college educated kids. Both now debt free. Both Virus employed still. Education matters. When people Poo-poo education I look at demographics. An average family of five when times get tough how may people withing the 5 are currently working during hard times? My family, educated beyond high school all. You likely get my drift, t there is a value in education. Me, my kids now holding masters are gainfully employed. My DD isn't and likely never in jeopardy of loosing her position. My son is hanging in there as of decisions of today. The job description is evolving however the pay and benefits are still intact at least for now until things improve. One of those roll with it as long as he has a job, benefits and a team player. So many families have one or none of their parents and adult children working. Me my opinion is education matters.

Now why I asked what type of school your son was enrolled. He is young. Elementary. An Athlete. I can see by your posts an excellent athlete. It matters. One quarter of elementary school does not. I had my son in high school during 9/11. All sorts of crazy. When it all shakes out a quarter of an educational year means squat to High Schools in a National Emergency as was 9/11 and now Covid19. The high schools understand, they are dealing with it themselves as their students apply to colleges. The colleges have already conceded they know what is happening with ACT and SAT testing and are waving. No respectable school is going to give a darn what an elementary school child did for one quarter during a National Emergency. They don't want to dig into what parent was stricken with the Virus and what the kid endured because of it. Like with my son it is going to be the we don't want to talk about it year. I speak from experience. I whole hardheartedly respect your value of education, I had my own, same expectations for my children for the need for higher education and best schools always. I have no doubt my kids will have the same for their children. I have found families tend to gravitate to Educate or not educate for generations. I also note how many under-educated get laid off first when times get rough. Education matters.

Your son is an athlete. Athletes also are afforded more forgiveness. They are a commodity that is sought after and different parameters for high school and college acceptance. You know this being an athlete yourself. My kids were also athletes. They were competitive swimmers.
It mattered. We both know in most schools athletes trump any 'activities.' Sports rule. There are statistics that demonstrate the draw to athletic events vs any other activities on campus. Your sons draw will be his dedication as a great student overall and not just secondary a great dedicated athlete. My niece attended the #7 private school in Ohio, Hathaway Brown, also an athlete. She attended one of the best Private Universities in NY and now is in Med School at Case. She got into that University not only for having great but not the top academics but because she was an athlete. Ultimately Elementary School doesn't matter in the overall long run of higher education, it is more the educational foundation. Don't dismiss please the decision makers that realize what families are dealing with this year, all are already making allowances and restructuring for when education becomes norm again. They know this is a make shift, not best practices to judge students by. Please try to let it go. What adults and children are going through is not lost on administration. Educated professionals do understand and will take this all into account. I saw it first hand after 9/11.

Be well and hug the boy often. Family is what matters during these times. Wishing you well. 💖

My dad is sitting in front of the TV watching an Orioles game from 1983 with the scorecard he kept from that game when he watched it in 1983 when he was at his dad's house. He's watching it calling the plays as he goes along, and I think this is the happiest I've seen him in weeks.

Whelp, whatever it takes.
This game is great for calming ones nerves;)

I subscribed to the HBO Now app for free to watch a show. Watched it, cancelled it because I'm not paying $15 for an app that doesn't even work right and doesn't really have the type of shows I like. And before you ask...the show was not Game of Thrones.

I know you're in a competitive private school so you likely won't agree to this, but in your shoes I would honestly just opt out of the schoolwork. Like,... Teachers are already prepared to catch the kids up in the fall. And one additional month of Summer vacation isn't going to make a difference in his overall schooling. And you'd be saving you and him so much stress.

I've been working from home for seven weeks now, on Thursday. Work is harder because A is home but we've developed a pretty solid working process. I make sure to take breaks from work so we can play. We work on reading, too, and do some work sheets, but mainly spend time where i can just playing with her because that's how i can get her to leave me alone when i have a meeting.

She has really gotten into calling people on messenger and giving them makeup tutorials. Like when she turned me into a "pretty kylo ren" 😂😂

And here she turned herself into Mimi from the Drew Carey show 😂😂😂😂

My husband says "Is Pretty Kylo Ren" with or without the mask? (I've never seen the movies, so I have no idea what he's talking about.)

She did a brilliant job. Was she going for the Mimi look?

You have a ton of stuff going on ( as usual)!! Surprised to hear that the food orders have gone down post-Easter. Food delivery services up here can't even keep up with the business, in spite of hiring many more people. Lastly, it's scummy that some customers don't tip -- that really p_sses me off. Glad that there is a "reminder" app, and kudos to those who then finally tip after the fact (realizing that "some" folks might not know about tipping etiquette, but they finally come through).

Really impressed with your creative efforts to keep the record stores afloat. Fingers crossed for the loans, too.
Took her to the vet yesterday. Minor UTI. Antibiotics for ten days. All good.
