Kylie is pukey today. Including once after I gave her nausea meds, so presumably that came up. :(

Brian is doing a little less driving lately, a little more helping at his Dad's house (their once a week housekeeper quit.) He's there now.

The driving shifts dropped off really fast after Easter. There are far fewer to book. I'm surprised because I presume folks got their stimulus payments. I've been picking them up in between "real work." It's about 50/50 people who tip or don't. Some do tip later (like the next time they open the app and are reminded.)

We had a relatively busy weekend (easily the busiest since we've closed.) I had a lot of ebay auctions ending last night, plus Amazon is heating up as Amazon itself runs out of records. In the stores: this would have been Record Store Day weekend. A movie that was supposed to come out (not in theaters or anything) came out anyway. The distributors let each record store sell the tickets with a dedicated link for $10 each, and we could keep the $10. We sold 21 tickets. We also gave a website coupon if you bought a ticket, and we did free shipping and delivery all weekend (and today.) We posted videos of a new collection that came in, etc. So we hustled and sold a lot of stuff. A lot more work for a lot less money, but it shows what you can do when you have to. Plus a few Shipt deliveries in there. Yes, I'm tired. Shipping all morning. Have to go pick up a wholesale order to fill more shipping orders, it will be a full day.

Plus there's some new, private grant thing that's supposed to kick in at 3PM today with a one-page simple app for $5K for small biz. So I'm waiting on that. We didn't get PPP yet, but we should be in decent shape for the second round (I hope.) I have to finish that up asap.
Poor Kylie, hope she's feeling better now. Prayers and pixie dust everything else works out xoxo

I'm sorry about the people who aren't tipping. I use instacart, and I've been over tipping because people are risking THEIR life to get my groceries.... they deserve extra imho!

And the guy that delivered Saturday, was able to score me an 18 pack of TP.... He's da man!

I hope Kylie will be on the mend in another day or so. Sometimes, dogs get ill and we never have a clue why, but then they usually rally within 1-2 days.

You have a ton of stuff going on ( as usual)!! Surprised to hear that the food orders have gone down post-Easter. Food delivery services up here can't even keep up with the business, in spite of hiring many more people. Lastly, it's scummy that some customers don't tip -- that really p_sses me off. Glad that there is a "reminder" app, and kudos to those who then finally tip after the fact (realizing that "some" folks might not know about tipping etiquette, but they finally come through).

Really impressed with your creative efforts to keep the record stores afloat. Fingers crossed for the loans, too.

Funny what they notice. T literally said “Mom, we’re the only people I know who don’t have a really big house. “

Most of his classmates have these crazy nice set ups for home learning. Huge curved desks with itineraries hung up and a hanging bin for each subject with the day’s work printed out above. My kid has a setup on our dining room table.lol

He has a similar issue as your daughter when it comes to the floors during some of the workouts, I only have one room with hardwood, It’s a small guest bedroom, there’s no way he could practice in there. There’s several soccer kids who have amazing home gyms with proper floors and plenty of space to practice without a risk of breaking anything. We don’t have that, and are not going to have it.

Your kid's setup is just fine for learning. I've read that as long as a kid has a "place" where their school items are, that's fine. Doesn't have to be fancy.

As for some children having home gyms, etc., I never grew up with that crowd either. It is fine for those people who have those nice things at home, but T is a creative kid (from everything you've shared), and will figure out something on his own. Might not be perfect, but I think he'll come up with something, maybe outdoors. Sometimes, it's good to be challenged.

My brothers and I used to create things all the time. Our creations were usually pathetic, but we never thought that. The only thing we couldn't create was a backyard, in-ground, swimming pool. We had one wealthy neighbor down the street who had a (fenced-in) pool. There was an opening at the bottom of the fence, and my brothers used to climb under that, and slip into the pool.

They'd sneak out from home around midnight and go down there to swim (when that family was asleep). :hilarious: (I declined to go with them, afraid of getting caught.) One night we had a cousin over, and they took him down there, but forgot to tell him not to jump in the pool, or make noise. So, the kid does a cannonball jump in the pool, making a huge splash, while yelling "Wahoooo!!" The outdoor lights came on, and the man came outside -- they were busted!! :p He walked the boys back to our house and rang the doorbell after midnight -- my parents were not amused ... :D

I may be legit experiencing my first panic attack. I can’t breathe. Like, I knew this was a probability, but I kept holding out hope.
Schools are not reopening this year.

I am beyond screwed. I have no idea how we’re going to deal. I just don’t.
First do nothing, then take a deep breath, then order your favorite take out dinner, maybe have a glass of wine and a long soak in the tub. It's going to work out! It may not seem like it now but everybody and every kid is going through the same thing. The important thing is to try and relax. Have you looked into yoga or meditation for stress relief?

This is the first time in my life when I don’t have a Plan B.
I know I’m not alone in this.. I feel for all kids and parents who are going thru it.

I didn’t even clean out T’s locker. They didn’t even get to say goodbye to their classmates.. they were supposed to go to school the following Monday after closures were announced, but then that that was nixed on that Sunday night. Holy Pizza all, this is crazy.

By "year" do you mean through June (this semester) or do you mean all of 2020-2021?

Sorry, this school year, meaning the current grade. However, DeWine is making it sound like they may not go back as scheduled for next school year. I don’t know if that means that all summer camps will be closed as well????
I would assume so.. I’ve already signed up for most.. awaiting the emails and probable refunds.. but holy heck I’m freaking out.

Maybe in time, you can chat with some other parents. That might be helpful.

I’m still at the office...but I am planning on having a glass of wine and bubble bath and probably a good cry tonight when T goes to bed.

A friend recommended that I take advantage of the FMLA act or whatever passed for parents, at least until school is over, then hopefully I can find some solution for summer ... but here’s the thing/s-

1. It’s only a percentage of your income.
2. I don’t know if that’s a percentage of current pay, or a percentage of what I was making prior to 3/25/20. There’s a huge difference.
3. Maybe the biggest one- I am worried that it would be career suicide. That I wouldn’t return to my position.. even though it’s not supposed to be legal, I’m reading that there’s ways for companies to get around it.

If I were you I would plan for not having summer camps. My husband was on the board of the church camp and has been told some information before it has been announced. Anyway, the camp in our area and has cancelled vacation bible school (counselors go to area churches to teach vacation bible school for the week) and they are not opening in June. The camp is still taking deposits and reservations for July and August for all their regular camp programs at the camp itself but hubs was told that they aren't 100% planning on being open those months either so they have plans for refunding deposits or rolling them into next year. They said that even if they could open in July or August they just aren't sure if parents are going to be comfortable sending kids to overnight or day camps. A lot of their counselors are college kids and international students, and getting the international students approved to come work in the US might be an issue.

One Wall Street website had Disney closing for the rest of the year too.
