Spring soccer season is officially cancelled as of an hour ago. The boys are instructed to continue training at home, tryout dates will be announced shortly.

I have so many questions.

How can they hold tryouts without in-person group training sessions?
How can tryouts maintain social distancing?
Will we get a refund of our fees?

The email was from the league at the directive at US Soccer, not T’s club.. I’m anxiously awaiting their email. T and I are going on a scavenger hunt today as part of his bday weekend. I’m not telling him until tomorrow. He’s going to be devastated.

We knew there was a possibility, but the latest emails had sounded like they were working on an extended season, even if that meant only ‘friendlies’ and no league games or tourneys.

I really feel much worse for the high school kids right now. As sad as it is for the younger ones, they aren’t looking at being recruited at their age. My heart is breaking for everyone who can’t do their final seasons (in any sport) for their clubs and/or schools, because next year they will have graduated or aged out.... and really all of the U14-U-18 kids who are missing such an important year when it comes to their future. They’re all in the same boat, but I don’t know what that means for kids and sports this year. :(

@MySmallWorldof4 and @MouseDreaming Any word on cheer or dance?
Haven't heard about cheer. I expect that as long as the gym doesn't go out of business that cheer will continue. It is technically a winter sport as it is indoors. Tryouts are usually in May. I expect that maybe they will get moved to June possibly? The competitions may just start a month later. Guess we will find out. The company Varsity which is the big conglomerate for cheer and dance said that they are considering scheduling canceled competitions to June. Don't know how they can have safe competitions without kids being in competition shape right now. They said they will make a final decision on April 24th about the competitions in June. They do have scheduled events on their website for the coming season though.

Same. I was looking forward to a warmer week this coming week and then saw all the temperatures have now been lowered. Every day was supposed to have been in the 60's. Now I see 50's and rain. :(
Aw, I'm sorry. It was beautiful here today, so I grabbed E and we went for a walk. Not a long one, but just to get some fresh air for once. It's the first time she's been out of the house in weeks. I wish I could get A out, too, but he isn't a walker unless he HAS to. It was nice to have good weather. It rained a lot yesterday, and it was a lot cooler and windier last week, so it was nice to have a day warm enough to go out and get some exercise!

For the Fall season.. so for example there are some new kids who made teams during supplemental tryouts last year, but never got to play a single game.. now will have to tryout again. I can’t imagine if they don’t make a team and then all of the fees and buying entire kits would have been wasted. For T and other kids who have been there for a few years, they will have still lost a whole season but have to try out again. I know for sure that T is regressing, I’m sure he’s not the only one.

Baseball is a similar situation if it gets cancelled. Tryouts are in July, but the season doesnt start until the following spring. So all kids who made teams last July, may never get to play a game with their team, and then have to try out again.

This swan followed T around for a good 10 minutes today, would walk then stand still and stare him down 😂😂. Finally went in the water and swam away.

Based upon my experience with the Canada goose, I'm wondering if the swan was protecting a perimeter of another swan's nest. (If that wasn't the case, then maybe the swan was looking for a new buddy?).

@Tony the Tigger , thinking of you and Brian. Hoping that the grocery deliveries are kicking in some reasonable tips. (I realize that trying to keep your business going at the same time, must continue to be quite a weight on your shoulders. I'm just hoping that your online record sales, and tips from your temporary job, will be enough to at least keep your head above water.)
