Oh yeah, that...

They closed the TSA precheck checkpoint at 8:15.

I was fuming.
Sometimes. We went through Southwest precheck last time at 830 pm. They hold it open when weather demands and when it is high volume days.
when they close it you still are treated as Precheck at MCO. DONT HAVE TO TAKE OUT LIQUIDS, or shoes nor electronics even though you share. You hand the scanner TSA employees your Precheck boarding pass and you are expedited. You also go through metal detectors vs body scanner.

They made me take out my electronics.

There was demand for it.

They are complete morons.

what? why?

TSA has been a pain in the butt at MCO for years. Precheck opening late and closing early. Worse with non Precheck. It got so bad a few years ago the Disney was sending guests to MCO 4+ hours before flight now 3 hours 2 for Precheck. At one point at Southwest they were scanning every piece of candy from Disney Halloween party. Travelers were packed so tightly and for up to two hours in queues that they were passing out due to no air circulation. So many missing their flights.

Beyond the Precheck standard of operating hours and not staffing properly That was our last trip without Precheck. It helped and is far more civilized than than the standard TSA. We also stopped flying Southwest nearly as much. It isn’t worth the few dollars we save. We fly United most often now. We only fly Southwest late at night when most carriers are done or like this trip when we booked only a couple days before.

MCO airlines have considered booting TSA because they are not conforming staffing and slow downs in processing passengers like other major airports do. They did improve when they airlines petitioned to go back to private hires. Now it looks like they are regressing so it might be revisited as flights leaving without their passengers is in nobody’s best interest. I’ve never had this issue at O’Hare except during the Trump government shut down where TSA had a national SLOW DOWN because the TSA was required to work with out paychecks being issued. The Trump shutdown brought airports to their knees countrywide but that was the only issue we had at O’Hare or Midway We became Precheck because of MCOs lack of efficiency.

Weird. We just did last flight out of MCO to Midway and Precheck was great at MCO. I can see why the entire airport wants to return to private If it is that inconsistent. We normally won’t fly SW anymore and United TSA is more efficient at MCO I flew SW home in November without issue but I departed the first flight out vs last. Again that was a trip booked less than 4 days out so I had no choice but to fly SW.

I actually am fine with the flights with SW. it is all the BS prior to being seated

Congrats to TWDC in Toy Story 4 winning an Oscar award last night. Bob Iger was interviewed and he was excited in the future looking to work with ex-Princess Meghan Markle in some capacity. The Oscars is a fun show to watch every year.

Just in case you need them (if you ever get a real snowstorm), I'm sending down some of our big boys (note the front truck with the side extended arm, in front of the plow trucks working in tandem, behind. :D

Flashback: I got stuck behind those guys in the middle of a blizzard in New Jersey back in March of 1983. It was late at night dark stormy and although it cleared a lot of snow quickly there was almost virtually no way to get around them without great risk. After following for miles and miles I waited until there was a safe distance between the plows (they used cement trucks to plow back then) pointed the gigantic Olds 98 I was driving toward one the snow banks the the plows were leaving for the next one to catch. I never drove in a storm as bad as that one. Because it was late at night, there was no traffic which was good because visibility was very limited. We even had to stop occasionally to clear the ice and snow off the headlights which by then were basically pinholes in the middle with a thin beam of light shining through.

Yes, heading everyone off at the pass, it was extremely foolish to keep going but we had a Tee-time at a golf course in Myrtle Beach and were determined to get there. Not to mention that was in the middle of my immortal stage.

You silly goose! That is so dangerous! To quote one of Archie Bunker's more famous comments to Edith, "God watches out for dingbats!" :p
