The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

That's good/bad news, but I'd like to think that having a brand new house versus an asbestos filled house is a better option. I know people hate insurance, but this is when insurance companies are needed the most. I hope your parents insurance is being easy to work with and that they are helpful.

I feel you on the no sleep... I am on a big project here at work, as Michigan has changed their auto insurance laws and all needs to be changed in our system by 7/2/20. Sounds like a reasonable date, but when there is tons of I.T. work, it isn't. Especially since peoples renewals legally have to be sent out 2 months prior, so back that date up to 5/2/20. All that to say I've been stressed out and am running on no sleep this week. I really wanted to call in this morning, but I dragged my happy **** in anyway.

Yes, if active asbestos would still be present even after proper remediation, it’s a no-brainer.
My pop has a copy of the report, and they actually didn’t find any in the popcorn ceiling, it was all in the mud used to float the sheetrock/drywall.
Just a shame, as otherwise about 75% of the front of their home coulda’ been salvaged.
I don’t hate insurance, as how many of us would be totally screwed without it...whether for a home, car, boat, etc....?! Yes, it can be expensive, but, like so many things it’s up to the consumer to shop it around for the best deal on the coverage they need.
My folks have had the same company for homeowners insurance for all 43+ years, and I believe for all their vehicles, as well. At this point, all indications are that the insurance company is spot on with the way they are handling the whole situation. With all the money they’ve made over the years investing my folks premiums, they better be...!!! ;)

Sorry about your work and sleep situation.
My sleep situation is better, but, it is still a bit disturbed because of certain thoughts and dreams related to the whole situation.
Again, no pity party here, as it coulda’ been sooooooo very much worse, but, it’s still bad enough.
Thank you for your kind words, and taking the time to post...!!! :)

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear about this. Thank goodness some of the things from their lives can be saved. And thank goodness you are so close by. I am sure it is a great help and comfort to them.

Thank you so very much...!!! :)
We are very grateful that most of the really important things already have been and will continue to be salvaged.
And yes, it definitely helps that we are so close, both in proximity and as a loving family...!!! ;)

I wouldn't want him to wait to long getting his preliminary home design either if I were you:joyfull:. It is very neat to have to do a preliminary home design for the person in question.

I know who that is in the picture. I used to follow WWE when I was younger back when it was the WWF. I remembered seeing him on the 1991 Survival series with his wrestling entrance being funeral parlor music. At the time I was curious what my younger brother was watching on paper view and decided to watch it with him.

My younger brother and I got his autograph and his late wrestling Manager Paul Bearer 's auto autograph back in 1996.

Very cool...!!!
Thanks for sharing...!!! :)

I don't think anyone expects you to try to get caught up here, as you've had much more important people and things to deal with recently.

Just glad to hear that the family is well, and the house, etc., situations seem to be under control. :)

Thank you so very much, Minnie...!!! :)
I’m gonna’ at least ketchup ;) on alerts, and then I’ll see from there.
And yes, so far things seem to be running very smoothly, considering, and we’re all on top of it...!!! :)
