I love cauliflower raw or cooked. Kale I can only tolerate if I beat the hell out of it with a meat tenderizer. Just not worth it. But I use it for landscaping. Comes up early dies late.View attachment 427897View attachment 427898
I put it in the food processor. I make a chopped salad with it. Throw in some quinoa, scallions, pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Top with a lemony dressing. Yum!

It was really good all around!

The sign was up by 3am. It won’t have electricity until tomorrow, but that didn’t matter in the daytime.

Ribbon cuttings are fun! We had the Mayor, Vice-Mayor, a Commissioner, and another guy who is running now all show up. That last guy and the mayor and myself (and Brian) all went to Local Government Academy together in 2016. (Rather than run for a seat, I took an appointment to an advisory board to the City Commission which just ended a couple of months ago.)

I finished pricing new arrivals early this morning, dropped them at the store at 10, and ran to the Publix with a Starbucks for one of those big thingies of coffee and some pastries. By the time I got back at almost 11, everyone was there, plus maybe a dozen regular customers. I was able to give them all nice vinyl box sets that we secured from Universal (oops!) and a couple other labels/distributors. They were happy with that and deserved it.

We did the ribbon cutting, took pics, the City people cleared out, and we had a great sales day! (Double the usual Friday, even with a lot of discounts.)

I was passed out in the couch by about 1:30, and then had to go to the other store. Sales there were the usual, which is great because that means it wasn’t cannibalized by the other store’s event.

I had the craziest feeling of calm, in the moment, on the drive to the other store. Not thinking about the next step, not stressing, just calm.

There will be plenty of scrambling to do come Monday for Black Friday, but for now, I’m just relieved, grateful, and trying to sleep.
Congratulations! Sounds like an awesome beginning!

Busy weekend ahead for us...

Sad part, viewing tomorrow for an old old friend who drugged and drank himself to death over the years - only 58. Haven’t seen him in a few decades. :(
Later in the evening, a surprise birthday party for another old friends 60th...!!!:)
And, then DWifeys side of the family Thanksgiving/family reunion on Sunday...!!!!!
And, life goes on...no matter what I do, it just keeps goin’.......
I'm so sorry for you loss but at least the rest of the weekend sounds glorious. Be well my friend

Very sorry to hear about your old friend. Such a sad loss of life. So many people struggle. (It's always around this season that things go south for some. I have two friends with family issues, and both are at a stalemate.)

Happy to hear about your other upcoming activities for the weekend, though. Wow, an early Thanksgiving feast? Where is this wonderful event -- I'm up for a free dinner! :joyfull:

You are the BEST!!!! And you're also one of the hardest, dedicated workers I've ever known. I love it when so much positive effort works out well. I think it was really cool that you had all those political guys show up to support your grand opening, too -- I wasn't expecting any of that. Sounds like it was THE event of the year for your area!!! KUDOS!!! :inlove:

AND . . . ANOTHER ROMAINE LETTUCE RECALL !!!!

Heard about this latest Romaine Lettuce recall last night.

EDIT: Story is being updated. Holding off posting any links until information is verified. It is separate from the packaged salads that were recalled very recently.

Edit: O.k. Here is the link (via channel 4, Boston) and it was about 1 year ago that the same thing happened --

You know, you're the 4th person I know directly or indirectly (via internet) who had their power out.
Any idea whats going on?

Oh, the power wasn’t out. This is our new sign:

14DEFEFD-6F4F-499F-B076-DB41B4BB45E9.jpeg

It took them from after midnight until 3AM to install it. It still has to be hardwired to the electrical box behind the first “R.” They’re supposed to come back and do that today.
