I just read 19 pages in N&R about the accident last night. First of all, luckily, no one was hurt. Secondly, some of those people were stuck for over 2 1/2 hours -- just watched a local FL reporter who was on one of them, in a news video she posted. As bad as it all was, it could have been much worse in the daytime, with high heat and humidity. At least it happened at night, with sun and temperatures down.

Not sure I want it to fail completely. It's far from what I would have preferred (more monorail routes), and also I never minded the bus routes either (except they could put on more buses when needed). I also like all of the boat services.

Time will tell if this new system will recover. We're all hoping the problem will be resolved completely and never happen again. At this point, I'd say I'm still a bit hesitant to ride it.
Saw one report there was an electrical failure and a car bumped into another one Any facts as to what happened?

Nothing really definitive just yet, beyond the power failure. It's only been since last evening that this happened, so will watch to see the details forthcoming in the next few days, I would assume. Again, glad no one was hurt, but scary experience for those unfortunate folks stuck for so long.

hey guys, Question..

To those who have been to Disneyland. Which hotels are recommended ? budget and quality wise?

I usually stay at the Best Western Park Place which is right next to the stop light to cross onto Disney property. I have made it from turnstile to my hotel room in 5 minutes before. It has always been clean and the breakfast is ok but nothing stellar, it is something to start the day with.

I have also stayed at the Best Western Anaheim Inn, it is a minute further to walk than the Park place. Room are clean and breakfast is the same as at the Park Place.

I recently stayed at the Candy Cane the walk took about 7-12 minutes. It seemed longer walking back at night. The hotel does have a free shuttle and runs on time with its schedule. The breakfast was good, fresh local pastries. The rooms were clean and it was close to some stores like Walgreens. We stayed there because it was closer to the convention center. It would be a consideration for a Disneyland only trip, but it is hard to pass up the close proximity that the other Best Westerns provide.

I have also stayed at the Howard Johnson and it was fine, about a 10 minute walk. I also stayed at the Stovalls Best Western and liked that it had a nice pool area but the walk was about 15 minutes .

The Disneyland hotels are nice but so very expensive. About $400-700 a night. With that cost I could have 2 trips at the Best Western.

If you have any other questions let me know.

@donaldtoo , so excited for you and the family -- enjoy your cruise!!! I figure it will be a number of days before we hear from you again, as I think you may not have internet out on the ocean. Anyway, have FUN, and looking forward to your updates and pictures -- especially of Emy!!!

@Mr Ferret 88 Are you and Mrs. Ferret discussing your next vacation plans? Are you working on a vacation video. I just realized that we haven’t really seen any pictures from your cruise. Or maybe I missed them?
We put a placeholder down on the cruise so we are looking towards another cruise out of Dover in 2021. Next year we are headed back to Jersey ( the original one) for the air display again.
Most of the photos are on Instagram. Didnt want to clog up here. Video never got made as was too busy relaxing 😎

Disney's Skyliner failed today but I secretly do want it to fail altogether
This is something I don't want to see fail altogether for 3 reasons.

When a system like this fails altogether, people can get hurt or even worse. People can sue Disney for a wrongful death lawsuit, but it can't bring their love one back from the grave.

People can sue Disney if they get hurt, but people are not going to be 100 percent physically for rest of their lives if it is a severe injury. The amount of money you get can make up for stuff you can't do again in life due to nature of the injuries or potential suffering. I suffered a severe hip injury back in the mid 1990s, I am not 100 percent the way I was from a physical stand to this day.

The 2nd problem is Disney would not be willing to spend the cash on expanding the monorail if anything happens to the gondola. The monorail is too expensive from Disney's view to expand from a WDW standpoint.

The 3rd reason is the Gondolas are not eyesores. I view it like a monorail or other other skyliners I seen. I seen the Gondola being tested during my last WDW trip and I thought I could see some great views from the gondola.

I seen skyliners all my life on Wisconsin State fair property and they are brought an atmosphere to the fair. I first went to WDW in 1991 and I did see the old skyliners at the time and were not eyesores either.

I've noticed it for maybe a year or so. Not sure if it's just a passing fad, or if it's a party trend. (I rarely go to functions, etc., but have definitely seen the donut craze in various articles, photos, etc.) I think it just depends upon the actual party or event, if it "works". I actually saw an article where a wedding "cake" was made out of donuts!) :hilarious:

Wedding cake: $200-800
Donut cake: $25

I get it. 😂😂

Just to give you a laugh today... here is a picture of me rocking the 80's.. in the 80's

View attachment 400554
I love it! I wasn't allowed to wear 80s styles. My mom thought the rolling of pants legs looked ridiculous, so I wasn't allowed to do that...same with those skirts that had the leggings under them. And I wasn't allowed to wear 80s hair...no feathered bangs, no mall hair. And I was never allowed to wear makeup really. She said I could wear a little for special occassions when I was 18, but the one time I put on a bit of eye-liner for a dance, she asked me if I wasn't wearing a bit too much make-up. I said no and rushed out the door before she could make me wash it off. I was allowed to wear the lycra biker shorts for PE with a long t-shirt over them, but only for PE. And no stonewashed jeans. And these:

I wanted a pair of these so badly. I was in 5th grade, and the girls in swing choir had to have those as part of their outfit, and my mom was so glad I hadn't made it that year because she didn't want to have to fight the dress code, but no way was I wearing those prostitute boots. So pretty much anything that was in style in the 80s was taboo in my house. You were rocking it!!
