I've noticed at a lot of birthday parties and showers and such that people are buying donuts for these types of things more and more.... am I the only one who finds it odd?

I've noticed it for maybe a year or so. Not sure if it's just a passing fad, or if it's a party trend. (I rarely go to functions, etc., but have definitely seen the donut craze in various articles, photos, etc.) I think it just depends upon the actual party or event, if it "works". I actually saw an article where a wedding "cake" was made out of donuts!) :hilarious:

There is corruption everywhere from our highest leaders to educational institutions to the very simple people that are cheaters in everyday life.

Most are not. Most that are never own it.

Me I look at my kids with great pride. When they were born I promised them they would be educated. They were. Not by cheating or scam but because of sacrifice by parents to fulfill a promise at birth.

I take pride in what my son has accomplished being promoted many times in his short career and is focused on bring happiness to all. He will never be disqualified for lacking formal education in the path he has chosen.

My daughter will graduate as a computer science engineer with her masters in December quite a feat for a woman in her field one of few in her graduating class. She was plucked because of her degree and being a climbing woman into the field and will launch her new career Monday with a corporation known nationwide just months prior to even completing her masters. She didn’t apply. She was found and sought.

My kids earned their degrees. They were not accepted into Nationally recognition schools because of their parents corrupt behaviors. They have succeeded because of dedication they had and parents that were dedicated to educating them. Nothing else. That gets lost in these conversations whether it is corrupt politics, wealthy with their kids, sports or everyday parents making poor personal choices that limit their children. There is all kinds of corruption of humans but never loose sight of the majority, millions of students that become educated because students and their parents do it properly without corruption.

Me I take pride in what my young adult children have accomplished and we as parents found to be be personally important in the 21st century.
As a parent job well done ---you have every right to be proud ---- thumbs up

I think it's more than just donuts. It's how you can up the gross food groups. ie...chips (not British chips) on burgers. Social media is the the cause of downfall of society.

But you have parties or announcements for everything now and it's annoying.

@MySmallWorldof4 -- excellent animal photos!! :) P.S.: I'd love to see a panda. You guys were lucky to be able to see one up close like that. I'd say your visit was a success, for the most part, even if you didn't care for the food there.
We loved the pandas. I think we were disappointed that so many animals were not available to be seen. Now we need to hit another zoo. And FYI, the zoo has webcams so you can see the pandas from your couch at home. https://nationalzoo.si.edu/webcams/panda-cam

Thanks for confirming I've not the only one! Must be a Pinterest thing! LOL

I used to love donuts... but in the past few years, it's become easier to pass on them, sometimes they just don't sound good. No idea why.

I'm still able to enjoy a donut here and there. Yesterday a 5th grader brought in 3 boxes of donuts from DUNKIN I was a happy she offered me one jelly donut. Yet the way you describe your evolving lack of interest with donuts is how I now feel about French Fries. I used to love French Fries but now they just seem greasy..unhealthy..my brain says: Steve...don't eat that...or just eat a couple and that's it! :)

I think it is more than wealthy. Colleges are corrupt in terms of student athletes. Division 1 colleges get high school students that are talented in sports, but does not do that well in class room. Division 1 schools care about cash than about student grades and gives those athletes scholarships. There is big money in college football and college basketball.

I remembered reading on the news years ago that colleges actually made up classes so the students have a GPA good enough to be eligible to play college sports. There even was a football player back in 2000 that was playing college football with a 0.0 grade point average at Ohio state.

Besides corruption, Division 1 colleges recruit basketball players that only want to play one year of college basketball before declaring for the NBA draft. The NBA has rule that prevents basketball players to declare themselves for the NBA draft in the same year they graduate from high school.

That means the colleges are looking at talent that does not want a degree, but play basketball professionally instead. The colleges still gives these one and done basketball players a scholarship and to me it is a waste of a scholarship.
Believe me, as I age, I am totally shocked by how naive I have been all my life. There has been massive corruption everywhere. Government, Colleges, medicine... everything! It has erupted into a massive zit in the last few years, that is ready to burst and leave it's pus all over everything. How did we let this crap get so bad. Sorry to be so graphic, but I have lost all faith in everything. As a person that was once a proud veteran, I have become so disillusioned by what we, the people, have become. Sorry to vent, it is all just getting to me!

Hmmm I wonder what's with that... the only ones I can never seem to resist are the light and air krispy kremes

I have been cutting back a lot on carbs and haven’t been eating many sweets at all. So I think I’m losing my taste for sugary carbs. I have had the same half gallon of ice cream in the freezer for 2 months and it is only half eaten, the flavor is one I like too.
