Test Track vs RSR

We rode it 3 times last night. Waited in the queue once, and it was definitely very elaborate. Reminded me of the Expedition Everest queue (except a lot less "stuff"). We used single rider the other 2 times and walked right on. It was one of the coolest rides I've ever been on. I wish it would have picked up just a HAIR more speed, but that would scare away the kids so I can see why it doesn't. It does get going pretty fast around that last big curve.

I never did get to go into Luigi's. I got Ramone all 3 times.

I went into Luigi's twice and didn't get to see Ramone's. Single rider is the way to go -- 5-10 min wait time is the best!

And I have to say, it's a small part of the ride but I especially loved the waterfall reveal.. The speed picks up a bit, the music changes and you see the water cascading around the bend. So beautiful! I can't wait to ride it at night.

Thanks TP2000! I'm extremely excited now!

You're welcome! Funny thing; Disney finally has its "Potter Swatter", except they built it 3,000 miles west of where it needed to be; in Anaheim instead of in Orlando.

As for the EPCOT Test Track comparison, Radiator Springs Racers really does bode well for the update to Test Track!

Aside from the main reason for the rehab; to transition from a late 20th century sponsorhip of General Motors that has killed off half of it's divisions during its Government Bailout era to a sole focus on the Chevrolet division of General Motors. There's also the pressing need to update the technology and aesthetic environment of Test Track for the 2010's decade and beyond. There appears to be several hints of what's to come for Test Track with Radiator Springs Racers. There is the vastly diverse fleet of vehicles with different paint, different headlights, different decor and trim, etc. There's also the various techno effects inside the super-impressive dark ride portion of Radiator Springs Racers.

Dare I think that some big talking/singing car animatronics might be coming to Test Track 2.0 Presented by Chevrolet this fall? How cool would it be to have an animatronic car or two sing you the Chevrolet jingle at the end of the ride?!? "See the USA in your Chevrolet, America is asking you to call! Drive your Chevrolet through the USA, America's the greatest land of all!"

This RSR video has some good footage of the talking car animatronics that could make it to Test Track. There appear to be two types of talking cars in Radiator Springs Racers, a moving bumper type and a digital projection type. The Mater and Lightning animatronics at the end of this video show the two styles quite nicely. I wonder which type shows up in Test Track? Obviously the projection type works best with modern cars with integrated bumpers, as seen nicely at the end of this video.

That looks amazing! Wish I could afford to take a trip out west but, alas, I am but a poor, humble school teacher.

RSR looks absolutely amazing! Too bad I live all the way in NJ, too far away to go on this ride! The AA's look great and the whole experience just seems so fun.

-The ride looks good. It seems to have a misplaced-Frontierland-dark ride on steroids feel to it doesnt it? The AA's look great. The details look fantastic. I'm diggin the in car music (I believe). That first near run-in with the 18 wheeler is a throwback to the orignial TT without a doubt. Not sure if it's an homage or borrowed. Cool either way. My nephews would go nuts on this ride.

From the videos that part makes you feel like you are in the movie. That is a great transition point.

Wow, a place where you can ride the movies! Now that's a cool idea.

I hope to be able to ride this, but there is a better chance I will ride TT way before RSR. I hope TT redo is just as good. I am optimistic that we will get a combination of WOM, TT and RSR all rolled into the WOM Pavilion.

Yeah, I think we might be seeing peeks at Test Track with more than just the new special effects on Radiator Springs Racers. I think all of these talking/moving animatronic cars and trucks in RSR (there appear to be twenty four of them throughout the ride) mean good things for Test Track. There were dozens of automobiles in World of Motion, and they will undoubtably be many various Chevrolet vehicles in Test Track 2.0.

I can't help but think they invented this new form of talking/moving/projection animatronics for Radiator Springs Racers and will be applying that in some way to Test Track 2.0 this fall. They've worked out a way to get the vehicles to bounce and move on all four wheels, to have motion in the fenders and front bumper/grill pieces to emote "talking", along with a windshield projection for eyes and eyelids. The combination in Racers is a fleet of talking cars and trucks that have emotion and personality and lifelike charm. Chevrolet would want to be all over that for Test Track I would think.

The two different versions of "talking" for the cars continues to impress me. At the end of the ride they have Mater and Lightning talking to you side by side, and the two types of talking (projection vs. moving parts) seem to work well. Chevrolet could have older cars and new cars talking and make it work for Test Track. At the end of this video is a good example of that concept.

Sorry, but God forbid we ever have talking cars in EPCOT. The dignity of the park can't have it. :barfsmilie:

What's next, talking fish in The Living Seas?

Here's a closer look at the AAs inside the ride. I believe there's a total of 23 full-size animatronics. They are really impressive and look exactly like they do in the movie, they even got the small details right like old Lizzie and her slight shaking. The cars also have an animated bounce to them as they talk to really give them life. It's very cool.

The more I watch the more I like the ride. One critique, I hear like 7 up shifts. Only dirt bikes in the movies shift gears that often.

I wanted that just to be a link but oh well.

Wow, I just watched the video and that went even above expectation. I haven't been out to Disneyland yet, but now I'm a lot more interested in taking that trip.

There are definitely 8-speed transmissions sold on cars now...Lexus, for one

When I am in the market for a Lexus I'll keep that in mind. If you have to push one that hard for a little speed I'll pass. My point was that someone got gear happy to help create the illusion of speed. Hearing the engine noise is fun but that many shifts is silly.
