Thanks! I hadn't seen a quality video yet.

RSR looks awesome! Such a shame I dislike Cars, and hate the characters. Oh well.

At 3:20 - I suspect this may be a good preview of the same effect in TT2: 'check your magically transformed car in the mirror!'.

I don't like Cars either (fun fact: I've never seen Cars sober...it's a fun story ;) ) but I found that extremely impressive. Super cool. I would definitely ride that regardless of me I don't like the characters. I wish WDW was getting a RSR.

Wow this ride (RSR) looks fantastic! Might have to trip down south this summer, as for TT I could go for something "Tron" like, I'm a sucker for stuff that glows. Hopefully it'll be a bit more themed up at least in the Future tense than the old used to be.

Thanks for the link. The scope of it is much more than I expected. The first half reminds me more of WOM than test track, and the second half is really unique and looks like fun..

Here's an even better on-ride video taken from Saturday morning. This one shows the dark ride portions better, and it has the section where you get painted in Ramone's paint shop instead of getting new tires at Luigi's tire showroom. Watch it on widescreen for best effect!

As for comparisons to Test Track, I'm not sure there are many. The ride system is similar, but both Pirates of the Caribbean and It's A Small World use a similar ride system and yet they are both very different experiences. Same here with RSR and TT. Although you can see where some of the special effects and gimmicks could be cloned for Test Track, particularly the tire changing effect in Luigi's showroom where the curtain opens and you have blackwall tires but after a quick pit stop from Guido the curtains open again and you magically have whitewall tires for the big race.

Test Track is a story written expressly for the sponsor, in this case Chevrolet. And Radiator Springs Racers is a story written expressly for a movie, in this case Pixar's Cars. I think there are some snazzy new techno effects that could be brought over to Test Track's rehab, but otherwise there's not much that could translate directly between the two attractions.

They are just very, very different rides telling very, very different stories. Just look at 'em how different they are!

The ride system is virtually identical. As has been posted, it's a 3rd gen system (or 4th if you include Rocket Rods hybrid system) and hopefully some of the programming will find its way to Test Tracks updated software.

The tire change mirror is indeed one technology planned in a big way for Test Track. Think World of Motion final scene meets the new peppers ghost guest mirror effect in The Haunted Mansion, taken to the next level.

This ride looks like so much fun (RSR)! I have not yet been to Disneyland and I too am not a huge Cars fan, but this ride's show scenes and extensive outdoor scenery made me like them more. Test track is the first ride I ever rode at Disney so it has a special place in my heart, but I hope I can visit Disneyland soon!

I think Imagineering hit this one out of the park. The dark ride sections are fantastic. And the length of the ride is perfect.

Good gravy...

Overall, it looks like CarsLand is a massive success, as far as a land that's up to the quality standards we should always expect from WDI. Its very rare for Disney to devote an entire land to a single franchise, but between the nostalgia factor of the Route 66 feel and the variety of attractions/things to do, good job from what I can see.

I can't wait to go over there and visit soon, maybe late this year.

We will be there in less than two weeks!! Can't wait to see RSR!! As much as I think my opinion matters, I will post how my 13yo DS likes it! Thanks TP2000! I'm extremely excited now!

There are so many details that the video doesn't even capture. The queue itself is beautiful and such a treat to walk through. Rode it twice and couldn't get enough, it is Disney at its best!

We rode it 3 times last night. Waited in the queue once, and it was definitely very elaborate. Reminded me of the Expedition Everest queue (except a lot less "stuff"). We used single rider the other 2 times and walked right on. It was one of the coolest rides I've ever been on. I wish it would have picked up just a HAIR more speed, but that would scare away the kids so I can see why it doesn't. It does get going pretty fast around that last big curve.

I never did get to go into Luigi's. I got Ramone all 3 times.
