News Test Track to be reimagined

I would have liked it more if each member of my party could design their own car. We were always grouped together on the same number so it didn’t become a competition for us. Yeah, we could have used the design kiosk in the post show but I always forgot about that.

That was always my "cheat" to use, especially if the line was long and wanted to do single rider

Shocked to see how many people weren't really rocking with the create a car thing. I really loved that part and it makes me sad that it might be going away
My sister and I loved it - as kids and as adults. Though as adults it became our mission to create the ugliest/weirdest car possible (but always pink with either the sparkles or butterflies). 😅

For some reason, this thought popped into my head this morning. This thought might be completely out there and entirely wrong. Will they add Cars IP to the new updates on Test Track?

The new update will be a tribute to the Horizon. At the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if characters from Cars also appeared. Epcot's goal is to introduce more intellectual properties to the park. Adding a Cars Land wouldn't make sense since we already have the Test Track. Therefore, the story would be different.

Additionally, this ride is closing in the middle of the summer, and we have the D23 Expo in August. I could see them making this announcement. Cars characters might become a part of the whole Test Track while also subtly referencing Horizon.

Guardians did the same thing. I remember when this attraction was first announced. They said it would pay homage to the original Epcot, with Star-Lord visiting Epcot during the 80s. However, we only got a photo of Peter standing before Spaceship Earth.

Also, take a look at CommuniCore Hall. They have new artwork featuring classic Epcot attractions. It is a lazy reference to say you are keeping with the spirit of Epcot.
Cars in this space would be terrible. This is one of the few attractions that Disney is building in this era with seemingly no IP attached. Let's keep it this way, as I believe this will be a huge win for EPCOT. You would be much better off building RSR somewhere else.

I've also mentioned this before, but that "same ride system" argument has been mentioned over and over again, however people seem to forget that Disney has been doing this sort of thing for a very long time. I don't get why people make the rules different for RSR and Test Track.

Over in the DAS thread, Len just posted that Sunday is the slowest day and Monday is the 2nd highest day - on average - in the month of June. I think those numbers were specific to MK but probably work for all the resort to an extent.

Monday is extra evening hours at Epcot, no? Would think that might drive it to be more busy perhaps.

Now's the (perfect) time to take GOTG off the virtual queue.

Most guests (including me) would just ride Test Track (single rider no wait!) nearby while waiting for our BG to be called. But now that isn't an option anymore..

Speaking of, I loved the single rider. Are they going to be cheap like Remy’s and take it away when 3.0
opens?

The create a car thing was also a pretty solid revenue source. I worked the TT shop during my CP and we would always have a fairly steady stream of guests purchasing the cards.

I definitely really liked it and my kids are a bit disappointed that TT closed before their next trip so they can't do it. I would have liked it if there was some impact on the design to the ride experience or at least more obvious details of the performances of various vehicles but the idea of something being interactive and have some details about automatic concepts was a real win for Epcot in my book.

I do agree with the impact on the line and how the waits felt, but it doesn't seem like it should really matter since the capacity of the ride should be unchanged regardless of this (which is essentially an interactive pre-show). I suppose the single riders bypassing it might have made an impact though to total waits but not sure if that would make a difference

Guess I’m in the minority, but I still enjoyed it more than most switchbacks and preshows. Nice distraction, and any excuse for some little family competitions is welcome. Now if it only reliably transferred over to the ride experience…
The unreliability was definitely a big downer for me. I’m still unsure how folks would get some of the high performance scores they got on the car design, especially with the limited time you had to do the design
